  • Publication number: 20230201018
Abstract: A modular orthopedic bracing system is provided. The orthopedic bracing system includes a walking boot configured to cover at least the plantar aspect of the user's foot, a support detachably connectable to the walking boot and configured to suspend the weight of the user and an ankle-foot orthosis (“AFO”) detachably connectable to the walking boot. Also disclosed is a method for supporting an injured lower extremity, which includes the steps of attaching a first support member to the patient's leg, providing a second support member for an area at or beneath the foot and posterior portion of the lower leg, providing a first upward force on the patient's leg with the first support member, providing a second upward force on the foot with the second support member. By adjusting the amounts of the first upward force and the second upward force, the foot and lower leg, supported by the AFO, may be fully suspended, partially suspended or rest completely on the foot bed of the walking boot.

  • Publication number: 20110047818
Abstract: An orthotic insert system which is configured to be inserted into footwear utilizes an orthotic member consisting of a posted orthotic element with a rear heel section and a forwardly extending arch support section tapered downwardly away from the rear heel section. The rear heel section of the posted orthotic element has first and second lateral walls of different heights and substantially flat upper and lower surfaces extending between the lateral walls. One end of the upper surface is the height of the first lateral wall and the other end of the upper surface is the height of the second lateral wall. The upper surface has a gradual slope as it extends from the first lateral wall to the second lateral wall. The orthotic member also has a rim which overlays the upper surface of the rear heel section. An insole member is positioned within the orthotic member. The orthotic member is not attached to the footwear nor is the insole member attached to the orthotic member.

  • Patent number: 6659841
Abstract: A pair of bra cups formed as a single, molded layer, each cup having a inner surface and an outer surface. An opening extends between the inner and outer surfaces of each cup at the location of the wearer's nipples. Each cup has a pocket positioned over and secured to the inner surface of the cup. The pocket overlays approximately one-half of the inner surface, but does not cover any part of the opening. An absorbent, replaceable nursing pad is positioned and retained within each pocket. The pad serves to cover the opening when in place in the pocket, but is removable from the pocket when nursing is completed. This nursing bra configuration is readily adaptable for use with a variety of bra to body attachment and support devices. The design obviates the need for flaps attached with snaps or hooks and thus facilitates unobstructed nursing. In addition, backless and strapless designs allow the user to wear the bra with fashionable dresses and blouses.

  • Patent number: 5919180
Abstract: The invention developed is a nursing pad assembly suitable for absorbing lacteal fluid which is conformable to the human breast. It includes a conformable casing comprising a central area and a plurality of outwardly extending fingers, the central area possessing a pocket having a front opening and a rear opening; an absorbent padding material located in the pocket and capable of being removed through the front opening; and adhesively attaching the outwardly extending fingers to an area surrounding the nipple in such fashion that the nipple will contact the absorbent padding material through the rear opening. When the absorbent padding material is removed from the pocket, the nipple will be exposed through the front opening to enable nursing without requiring removal of the entire pad assembly.
