  • Patent number: 9500179
Abstract: Segmented wind turbine blades with truss connection regions, and associated systems and methods are disclosed. A wind turbine system in accordance with a particular embodiment includes a wind turbine with a first segment having a first position along the longitudinal axis and having a first internal load-bearing structure for which non-truss structure elements carry at least 90% of the shear loads in the first segment. The blade further includes a second segment having a second position along the longitudinal axis and having a second internal load-bearing structure for which non-truss structure elements carry at least 90% of the shear loads in the first segment. A connection region between the first and second segments includes an internal load-bearing truss structure connected between the first internal load-bearing structure and the second internal load-bearing structure.

  • Publication number: 20120101863
Abstract: A method is disclosed for using information related to the service history of a power-train component. The method may include using a machine-management system with at least one information processor to acquire information related to loads experienced by the power-train component during a first period, the first period occurring before a disassembly procedure involving disassembly of the power-train component from a power train. The method may also include employing the machine-management system and the acquired information related to loads experienced by the power-train component during the first period to perform one or more tasks in connection with use of the power-train component after the disassembly procedure.

  • Patent number: 6422623
Abstract: A skimmer lid and basket lifting tool comprises an elongate handle member having proximal and distal ends relative to a user. A generally L-shaped hook member is integrally attached to the distal end of the handle member and is adapted to be extended into an aperture of a skimmer lid. Once inserted, a user may lift the lid from the skimmer well by lifting the handle member. The lifting tool further includes a pair of U-shaped hook members attached to the handle member at a point spaced from the distal end. Once the skimmer well lid has been removed using the L-shaped hook member, the U-shaped hook members may be extended through an open top of a skimmer basket and positioned so as to engage a transverse handle therein, whereby to lift the basket from the well.
