  • Patent number: 11628738
Abstract: In an aspect, upon a user connecting a charging cable connector of a charging station to a vehicle charging connector of her vehicle, the vehicle will via wireless communication acquire an identifier of the charging station operator, which is transmitted to a server of for instance a car manufacturer. The car manufacturer server can identify the charging station operator from the identifier and register charging session information such that a particular subscription associated with the vehicle or user is charged for the battery charging session and that the charging station operator is duly remunerated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 21, 2020
Date of Patent: April 18, 2023
    Assignee: Volvo Car Corporation

  • Patent number: 10393880
Abstract: A method is disclosed for managing rules or policies in a vehicle having a controllable unit. The method may include determining, at the start of a driving, an active route of the vehicle, selecting a set of control values from multiple stored sets of control values, where one control value of the set of control values corresponds to one predetermined interval of the determined active route, and controlling the at least one controllable unit based on the selected set of control values. The method may also include recording, during the current driving of the vehicle, a set of control result values, where one control result value corresponds to a predetermined interval of the determined active route which the vehicle has driven and, at the end of the driving based on the set of control result values, determining and storing an updated set of control values for the actually driven route.

  • Patent number: 10150482
Abstract: A method for controlling an electric machine (EM) during a synchronization procedure of a first shaft and a second shaft, whereby said first shaft is in drive connection with an output shaft of said electric machine (EM) and said first shaft and said second shaft are connectable over a synchronization mechanism, comprising: controlling the output shaft to a speed (na) close to a target speed (nt) of said second shaft by using speed control; continuously controlling an electrical torque of said electrical machine (EM), such that an output torque (Tout) of said electric machine (EM) becomes essentially equal to zero; and controlling said synchronization mechanism to synchronize the speed of the first shaft and the second shaft.

Abstract: A method for controlling an electric machine (EM) during a synchronisation procedure of a first shaft and a second shaft, whereby said first shaft is in drive connection with an output shaft of said electric machine (EM) and said first shaft and said second shaft are connectable over a synchronisation mechanism, comprising: controlling the output shaft to a speed (na) close to a target speed (nt) of said second shaft by using speed control; continuously controlling an electrical torque of said electrical machine (EM), such that an output torque (Tout) of said electric machine (EM) becomes essentially equal to zero; and controlling said synchronisation mechanism to synchronise the speed of the first shaft and the second shaft.

  • Patent number: 9522669
Abstract: A method is provided for optimizing power consumption of a vehicle which may include sending data from a vehicle Electronic Control Unit and vehicle Global Positioning System receiver to a network cloud and/or server upon starting the vehicle, calculating a most probable final destination and most probable optimized route of the vehicle in the network cloud and/or server based on the sent vehicle data, and calculating a most probable driving mode map in the network cloud and/or server. The method may further include calculating an optimized power utilization of propulsion sources for the vehicle in the network cloud and/or server, returning the optimized power utilization of propulsion sources to the vehicle from the network cloud and/or server, and using the optimized power utilization of propulsion sources to control drive train modes and/or peripheral equipment of the vehicle during driving in order to optimize the power consumption of the vehicle.
