  • Patent number: 7690176
Abstract: A hydraulic cutter device incorporates a rotatable base including a plurality of spaced cutter teeth. A protective shield covers at least a portion of the base. A fluid cooler is located adjacent the protective shield, and defines a window for movement of ambient air from a relatively high-pressure area upstream of the fluid cooler to a relatively low-pressure area downstream of the fluid cooler. A hydraulic motor is adapted for rotating the base, and includes a plurality of hydraulic lines communicating with the fluid cooler. Rotation of the base creates a pressure reduction downstream of the fluid cooler causing ambient air flow into and through the fluid cooler to cool fluid moving into and from the hydraulic motor.

  • Patent number: 7213623
Abstract: A cutting device includes a rotatable base defining a plurality of closed-sided, tooth sockets. A plurality of tooth assemblies are mounted within respective sockets. Each tooth assembly includes a tooth holder having a base-engaging portion adapted to fit into the socket, and a cutting tip projecting from the rotatable base for engaging and cutting an object.

  • Publication number: 20040083679
Abstract: A mobile de-roofing device operates to remove roofing material from a building. The de-roofing device includes a supporting frame and a plurality of wheels attached to the frame. A mechanical roof cutter is carried by the frame, and adapted for engaging the roofing material and separating the roofing material from a roof of the building. A remote power source is operatively connected to the roof cutter for supplying power from a remote location to actuate the roof cutter.

  • Patent number: 6176445
Abstract: A cutter tooth is carried on an outer peripheral surface of a rotatable cutter adapted for clearing, mulching and grinding trees. The cutter tooth includes a tooth body with a front face, sides, and a rear. The face is recessed inwardly and defines three equally spaced-apart and outwardly diverging cutting tips.

  • Patent number: 5873534
Abstract: A cutter tooth holder assembly is adapted for attaching a cutter tooth having a plurality of spaced cutting tips to a rotatable cutter drum. The tooth holder assembly includes a base for being mounted to an outer peripheral surface of the cutter drum. The base has a tooth-locking, circumferentially-extending groove formed in its top surface. A tooth holder is positioned in the tooth-locking groove, and has a front bearing surface residing adjacent a back end of the cutter tooth. The cutter tooth is arranged such that one of the cutting tips resides in the tooth-locking groove to prevent rotational movement of the cutter tooth during operation of the cutter drum, while an opposed second one of the cutting tips resides in a cutting position relative to the outer surface of the drum. An elongate, threaded bolt cooperates with the tooth holder for attaching the cutter tooth to the tooth holder assembly.

  • Patent number: 5794866
Abstract: A cutter device is provided for being attached to an end of a movable working arm of a self-propelled vehicle for clearing and mulching trees. The cutter device includes a rotatably mounted drum with a plurality of spaced cutter teeth attached to an exterior of the drum for engaging and grinding the trees. A shield covers a portion of the drum and contains the deflection of wood debris outwardly from the drum during operation. The shield has an interior wall spaced apart from the cutter teeth and cooperating with the rotating drum to define a debris flow path through the device. At least one deflector plate is attached to the interior wall of the shield. The deflector plate extends inwardly into the debris flow path in a direction towards the cutter teeth of the drum.
