Abstract: This aims at providing a hinge device compact in size, and at securing a space sufficient for an FPC, etc. in manufacturing a cellular phone compact by use of the hinge device. The hinge device includes a shaft substantially long, a fixed cam provided allowing the shaft to rotate and having an angle holder, a movable cam provided to rotate about the shaft with rotation of the shaft and to slide along the shaft, and having an angle holder for holding at a predetermined angle an own rotation angle relative to the fixed cam cooperatively with the angle holder of the fixed cam, an elastic element always biasing the movable cam toward the fixed cam, a first arm fixed to the fixed cam, and a second arm fixed to the shaft. Here, the elastic element is to have a diameter provided as comparatively small correspondingly to the shaft substantially long.

Abstract: A mobile terminal having three parts rotatably interconnected by hinges. The terminal can be a mobile telephone having an operative position where a microphone and a loudspeaker are positioned for conversation. When not in operation, the terminal may be positioned around a user's wrist in a safe manner. Removing the terminal from the wrist requires operation of a release means or the overcoming of a predetermined force, which is a safety measure of the hinges and the terminal. The hinges provide a combination of snap or automatic rotation and freely selective rotational positions of the parts of the terminal.

Abstract: A mobile terminal, such as a mobile telephone, has a hinge with a helical spring and which provides both snap opening or automatic opening upon activation of a release means as well as a freely selectable angular position between the rotating parts of the terminal. Also, a new type of spring hinges or clutches are described for use in e.g. this type of terminal.

Abstract: A portable radiotelephone device is provided that includes a body having provided on one or more exposed surface thereof one or more electrical contacts for one or more respective electrical input/output devices. The electrical contacts are covered with one or more layers of electro-resistive material. The electro-resistive material in the relaxed condition being an electrical insulator and in the stressed state being an electrical conductor. The arrangement is such that to effect electrical connection between any of the one or more electrical contacts with respective one or more electrical input/output devices, respective contacts and input/output devices are mutually engaged so as to load the elasto-resistive material under compression.

Abstract: A wearable electronic device which includes a base, a display mounted to the base, a user-controllable cursor, a cursor controller for allowing the user to control the position of the cursor on the display, wherein the cursor controller is responsive to a control stimulus from the user acting in a cursor control area remote from the base.

Abstract: The casing of a portable electronic apparatus includes a main front panel which is formed from carbon fiber reinforced resin. The panel includes apertures, some of which are dimensioned for keys of a keypad to protrude therein. A main rear panel having a rim that matches a rim on the front panel completes the casing. The casing is particularly suitable for use in a mobile telephone.

Abstract: A SIM card reader comprising a housing having a recess, having a substantially planar floor portion and wall portions, sized to accommodate and thereby position the SIM card; resilient material within the recess and overlying at least portions of the recess floor; a dielectric substrate within the recess and supported by the resilient material, having an upper surface substantially planar to the floor of the recess and having contact elements extending from the substrate upper surface away from the recess floor wherein each contact element comprises a raised three dimensional metallic structure which extends substantially perpendicularly relative to the substrate upper surface, from a base portion at the substrate upper surface to a free end of reduced area; and means for holding the SIM card within the recess while pressing the SIM card toward the recess floor whereby the resilient material is compressed and physical connection is made between the SIM card and the contact elements.
