A surface of a polycarbonate member 110 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays, and thereby the surface is modified. A plating layer 130 is formed on the modified surface by electroless plating. Neither a strong acid treatment nor a strong alkali treatment is performed between the modification and the forming.

The wireless communication apparatus maintains the communication speed of a communication channel when a total sum of the speed of the communication which one of the plurality of cellular phones starts and the speed of the communication previously performed is equal to or less than the communication speed of the communication channel. An IMT2000 network stores the wireless communication apparatus and the base station corresponding to a plurality of cellular phones in a location registration database and processes incoming calls to a plurality of cellular phones according to the location registration database.

The user selects a desired helper terminal from the notified helper terminals to obtain an answer. The help server can return the answer to the user inquiry at the fee and answer contents desired by the user.

A holding member is disposed at an upstream side of the regulating member in a rotating direction of the rotary member and is adapted to hold the mold releasing agent. A supplying member supplies the mold releasing agent to the holding member, wherein a supplying timing of the mold releasing agent supplied from the supplying member to the holding member is effected periodically after a plurality of fixing process operations.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus has an image forming device for forming an image on a recording material in response to an image on a document. The apparatus also has a glossiness detection device for detecting from the document the level of glossiness of the document image. The image forming device is controlled based on an output from the glossiness detection device. With this construction, the level of glossiness in response to the document image can be reproduced on the recording material, thus improving the quality of reproduced images.

Abstract: The present invention provides a fixing apparatus having a cleaning member for removing offset toner without damaging a roller surface, to thereby permit formation of a good image having no contamination and stripes for a long time. The cleaning member includes a base material, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 particles and polyester resin, and the Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 particles are dispersed in the polyester resin and the base material is coated by the polyester resin dispersing therein the Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 particles. The polyester resin dispersing therein the Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 particles and coating the base material is contacted with the roller surface to thereby remove offset toner from the roller surface.

Abstract: When a predetermined pattern (e.g. a pattern indicating the serial number of a copying machine) is added on an image formed on a recording paper, the image formation apparatus suppresses the appearance of fog by the addition of a predetermined pattern in the vicinity of the image. More particularly, a control circuit, which inputs and processes an image signal, estimates the leading and ending edge positions of the recording paper with respect to the transferring direction. The edge which is perpendicular to the transferring direction of the recording paper is determined based on a signal obtained from an ITOP generation circuit and a BD detector. Accordingly, an effective area for image formation on the recording paper is obtained and a modulation amount for adding the predetermined pattern is controlled in accordance with the position on the recording paper at which the predetermined pattern is added.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises: an image forming unit to form an image onto a recording medium; a measuring unit to measure a density of the image formed on the recording medium; a controller to execute an image stabilizing control to decide image forming conditions of the image forming unit on the basis of the image density measured by the measuring unit; a heater to heat a load by supplying a current to the image forming apparatus; and a detector to detect a temperature of the load which is heated by the heater, wherein the controller controls the execution of the image stabilizing control in accordance with an output of the detector at the start of the power supply to the apparatus. When it is equal to or higher than the predetermined value, the image stabilizing control is not performed.

The convey belt is shifted in a direction perpendicular to a convey direction in which the recording medium is conveyed. A cleaning blade for removing residual toner from the image bearing body has a width that is larger than the range in which the convey belt is movable in the direction perpendicular to the convey direction. No cleaning device is required for the convey belt.
