Image processing apparatus and method, storage medium storing computer-readable program, and program
Publication number: 20050193200Abstract: An image processing apparatus extracts feature information from electronic data to be transmitted to an output device, and encrypts the electronic data before transmitting it to the output device. The image processing apparatus manages an output time and date at which the transmitted electronic data is to be printed, and transmits a decryption key for decrypting the transmitted encrypted electronic data to the output device at the output time and date. A hash value extracted from the electronic data decrypted by the output device is checked against a hash value extracted by the image processing apparatus. When these hash values are consistent with each other, the image processing apparatus instructs printing of the electronic data decrypted by the output device.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2005Publication date: September 1, 2005Applicant: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Rieko Akiba, Etsuko Maeda, Tatsuo Shinagawa, Shuji Someya -
Patent number: 6782218Abstract: There is provided an image forming apparatus an image forming apparatus that is capable of presetting a tabbed sheet feeding section and the number of divisions of recording sheets by tabbed sheets to make the setting operations easier in a tabbed sheet insert mode and a tabbed sheet producing mode during image formation, thus improving the operability. An image forming section forms images on tabbed sheets each having a tab projecting from one edge thereof. A tabbed sheet print mode setting section sets a tabbed sheet print mode in which an image is formed on the tab of each of the tabbed sheets. A control section enables the tabbed sheet print mode setting section to set the tabbed sheet print mode when a sheet feeding section that stores tabbed sheets and the number of tabbed sheets per set are set in advance.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2002Date of Patent: August 24, 2004Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Nobuo Sekiguchi, Rieko Akiba, Tadaaki Saida, Yuichiro Maeda

Patent number: 6624905Abstract: In an image formation apparatus having a function to detect a direction of an original image, in a case where an image formation mode is set by using a touch panel, a keybutton to instruct whether or not direction detection is to be performed is displayed on a setting screen of an image formation mode to which direction detection is effective, while such the key is not displayed on a setting screen of an image formation mode to which direction detection is not effective. The image formation mode to which direction detection is effective includes a mode to record images of one-face originals onto two faces of a sheet, a mode to arrange and record images of plural originals onto one sheet, a mode to perform stapling at designated corner positions of sheets, and the like.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1999Date of Patent: September 23, 2003Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hideyuki Ikegami, Rieko Akiba, Shunsaku Kondo

Patent number: 6559967Abstract: In order to improve the ease of use of personal boxes provided in a copier connected to a host computer via a network, a large-capacity hard disk is provided. A personal-box region having a plurality of storage regions corresponding to respective users are present within the hard disk. The copier performs control so that a printing mode changed through an operation unit returns to a printing mode set by the host computer in accordance with a predetermined instruction. When a plurality of image data to be printed are selected from a personal box, it is prohibited to change the printing mode set by the host computer.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1999Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Rieko Akiba, Hideyuki Ikegami, Shunsaku Kondo

Patent number: 6473196Abstract: A user designates a two-sided copying mode, a reduced-scale copying mode, a vertical or horizontal binding direction, and the like from a control panel. An original image is magnification-varied at a designated reduction magnification, and the reduced image is stored in a page memory. In the case of an odd page (front surface) in a single-sided or two-sided copying mode, a &ggr; conversion circuit reads out and outputs stored image data in the normal order, thus forming images. On the other hand, in the case of an even page (back page) in the two-sided copying mode, whether the horizontal or vertical binding direction is designated is checked. If the binding direction agrees with the reversing axis direction of a paper sheet upon copying, images are read out in the normal order. When the vertical binding direction is designated, images are read out in an order opposite to the normal order, so that each page is rotated through 180°. Images are copied in the designated layout.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1997Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akihiro Usami, Makoto Takaoka, Masahiro Funada, Shigeo Fukuoka, Rieko Akiba, Tomotoshi Kanatsu

Patent number: 6453133Abstract: An image forming apparatus which forms an image on a sheet by an image forming device based on image information, and which discharges the sheet on which the image is formed. The apparatus has a proof printing mode in which, when, in the process of forming an image on sheets to form a plurality of copies of the image, the sheets having the image formed thereon to form a first copy is discharged, the image formation is temporarily stopped by an image formation stopping device. The apparatus also has a mode controller for automatically setting the proof printing mode when execution of a predetermined process mode is selected.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2000Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshihito Osari, Masahiro Serizawa, Rieko Akiba, Shunsaku Kondo

Patent number: 6285460Abstract: An image processing system includes an input device which inputs an n page document, with the n pages being reduced in size so that a predetermined number of the n pages can be layed out in a layout print format on a single sheet for recording. A selection device selects between first and second layout modes for laying out the predetermined number of pages in the layout print format for recording. In the first layout mode the predetermined number of the n pages are first layed out in the layout print format and are subsequently stored in a storage device, and are then read from the storage device for recording on a single sheet. In the second layout mode the predetermined number of pages are first stored in the storage device on a page by page basis, are then read from the storage device and are subsequently layed out in the layout print format, and are then recorded on a single sheet.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1997Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Assignee: Canon Kabushika KaishaInventors: Shokyo Koh, Tokuharu Kaneko, Keizo Isemura, Hirohiko Tashiro, Akinobu Nishikata, Masanobu Inui, Nobuo Sekiguchi, Nobuaki Miyahara, Rieko Akiba
