  • Patent number: 5673039
Abstract: An arrangement for monitoring vehicular traffic and providing information and warnings to drivers of traffic disruptions, driver error, dangerous road conditions, and severe weather. Road and traffic conditions are detected with roadside traffic sensing equipment, and the conditions are displayed over luminescent elements with signal lamps distributed at intervals along the road and combined into chains of lamps. The luminescent elements are illuminated simultaneously or in sequence for providing continuous traffic information. A processor network and a signal network are combined through a communication network to regulate the luminescent elements by processing, if necessary, under real time controlled conditions.

  • Patent number: 4920520
Abstract: A method of and a device for safeguarding a vehicle or machinery movable in space, such as a robot, a stacker, an operatorless transporting vehicle or the like against collision, in which by the use of distance sensors, especially ultrasonic sensors with echo time measurement, the distance from an obstacle is measured and a reaction signal is initiated when a preset threshold value is not reached, said method and device being characterized by a time-synchronous actuation of the distance sensors in a compound circuit which in case of a dangerous approach of the vehicle to an obstacle triggers a reaction signal which is either a speed reduction signal or a stop signal. Moreover, the measuring signal can be utilized as a command signal for actively influencing the vehicle movement, e.g. for driving around the obstacle or the like.

  • Patent number: 4507608
Abstract: Method for determining the position and depth of unevenness in an inner surface of a pipe with the aid of a scanning head which is adapted to travel through the pipe and which is rotatable about the pipe axis. The invention provides an inductive, or capacitive, depth scanning process, which operates in a contact-free manner with respect to the inner pipe surface. This is attained by means of an inductive method in that, as is illustrated in the drawing, there is arranged at a distance from the pipe inner surface the scanning head which is guided and in which a coil (2) of a measuring, resonant circuit is mounted and, above the inner periphery of the pipe, a coil 1 of a reference, resonant circuit is arranged, and then, after the frequencies of both resonant circuits have been brought, prior to measuring, to an identical value in each of a multiplying circuit (10, 7, 13 respectively 11, 8, 14), they are measured and converted into an adjustable difference of the multiplied frequencies (f.sub.1, f.sub.

  • Patent number: 4369071
Abstract: A process and arrangement for introducing an automatic cleaning device into the open end of a gun barrel so that the cleaning device may reciprocably move through the gun barrel and clean it. The cleaning device includes a drive motor, drive rollers, a pair of oppositely rotating brush members and sensing means. The arrangement for introducing the cleaning device into the gun barrel includes a lower trough-like member adapted to be joined to the muzzle of the gun barrel and an upper complementary member which jointly form a composite pipe member having essentially the same caliber than the gun barrel. A centering and tensioning mechanism is mounted on the muzzle of the gun barrel and serves to connect the composite pipe member to the gun barrel in axial alignment therewith. The cleaning device is positioned on the trough-like member and thereafter the complementary member is mounted on the trough-like member and connected thereto.

  • Patent number: 4290163
Abstract: A cleaning arrangement for cylindrical bores and in particular gun barrels. The cleaning arrangement, when in operation, automatically axially reciprocates in the gun barrel. The arrangement includes a carrier on which at least one drive motor is mounted. Electrical energy supply means are connected to the drive motor. A container for holding cleaning fluid is also mounted on the carrier and rotary brush means are connected to the drive motor via gear train means. Entering means are mounted on the carrier and maintain the cleaning arrangement in substantial axial alignment with the gun barrel via a plurality of radially outwardly biased drive rollers which bear against the interior surface of the gun barrel. The rotary brush means are rotated by the drive motor via the gear train means about the longitudinal axis of the gun barrel. The drive rollers, when rotated by the drive motor, also serve to axially advance the cleaning arrangement in the gun barrel.
