  • Publication number: 20060143487
Abstract: A method is described that involves operating a computing system within a normal on state and transitioning from the normal on state to a main CPU/OS based state. In the main CPU/OS based state one or more components of the computing system are inactivated so as to cause the computing system to consume less power in the main CPU/OS based state than in the normal on state. The computing system is able to execute software application routines on a main CPU and a main OS of the computing system while in the main CPU/OS based state.

  • Publication number: 20060117160
Abstract: A method and system for reducing power consumption of a computer system by allocating memory pages that are associated with lower memory address before those associated with higher memory addresses. Memory elements that do not include any allocated memory pages and that are positioned at a higher address than a threshold address may have its power consumption reduced when the computer system enters a low power consumption state.

  • Publication number: 20060018270
Abstract: A system and method for receiving a list of data item during a process synchronizing data on a mobile device. One embodiment, of the method includes replacing one or more data items if a quality factor of a corresponding data item received is higher than the corresponding data item previously stored on the mobile device. In one embodiment, the method further includes saving one or more data items received if the data items were not previously stored on the mobile device. The mobile device is one of a set comprising of a mobile computer, a personal digital assistant (PDA), cellular phone.

  • Patent number: 6529606
Abstract: Methods and devices for reducing undesired signals in a communication environment. At least two distinct composite signals (X1 and X2) are transmitted from a first communication environment (260). A noise coefficient of the first communication environment (260) based on the at least two distinct composite signals (X1 and X2) is calculated. At least two noise canceling signals based on the noise coefficient are calculated. The at least two noise canceling signals are added to an incoming signal (Y3) from a second communication environment (280) to produce at least two combined signals. The at least two combined signal are transmitted into the first communication environment (260).

  • Patent number: 6151397
Abstract: Methods and devices for reducing undesired signals in a communication environment. At least two distinct composite signals (X.sub.1 and X.sub.2) are transmitted from a first communication environment (260). A noise coefficient of the first communication environment (260) based on the at least two distinct composite signals (X.sub.1 and X.sub.2) is calculated. At least two noise canceling signals based on the noise coefficient are calculated. The at least two noise canceling signals are added to an incoming signal (Y.sub.3) from a second communication environment (280) to produce at least two combined signals. The at least two combined signal are transmitted into the first communication environment (260).

  • Patent number: 5950118
Abstract: A wide bandwidth frequency discriminator circuit (200) employs a wide bandwidth limiting amplifier (202) to amplify the IF signal portion of a received RF signal. A frequency-to-voltage circuit 208 is provided having a bandwidth substantially greater than the bandwidth of the IF signal. This discriminator (200) operates to form a detection system capable of discriminating between desired and undesired components of the received RF signal even when said desired and undesired components are nearly identical in amplitude. This is due in part to the enhanced frequency response provided by the discriminator (200).

  • Patent number: 5872523
Abstract: A target device (18) performs the steps of receiving a broadcast message via an out-of-band paging network (14) which message includes an identification of the sourcing device. The subscriber (18) automatically registers, responsive to the receipt of the broadcast message, with a local communication server (22) associated with an in-band communications network (12). The target subscriber (18) then uses the identification of the sourcing device (16) to respond to the communication from the sourcing device (16) to establish a communication path therewith through the local communication server (22). In a preferred embodiment, the target subscriber unit and method reside in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. In this manner, the present invention establishes a direct communication path between the local communications server (22) to which the target subscriber unit (18) is attached and the sourcing device (16) thereby minimizing network trafficking and inefficiency problems.
