  • Patent number: 5110483
Abstract: A method is described according to which composite particles made up of carrier magnetite particles with calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate flakes adhered thereto and present in a fluid suspension are separated into particles and flakes. To accomplish the method, the suspension is first introduced into the intake of a centrifugal pump. Vanes within the pump are then rotated to produce turbulence in the pump housing and a velocity gradient within the tangential discharge. The composite particles within the liquid are subjected to the velocity gradient and to shearing forces which cause an effective separation of the composite particles. The velocity gradient is such that shearing separation of the composite particles results in separated elements sized with the magnetite particles at least as large as the separated flakes of calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate.

  • Patent number: 4367381
Abstract: A switch for high voltages comprising co-operating fixed and movable spherical contacts, of which the or each fixed contact consists of a stationary body in the shape of a hollow spherical cap and a potential field controlling screen adapted to be forced by the respective movable contact into said hollow cap, said screen being spherically complementary to said spherical cap, when the switch is in its open condition, and being also provided with the contact surfaces to conduct the main current.

  • Patent number: 4109124
Abstract: Monophase or polyphase circuit-breaker for high voltages, in which the switch work is or the switch works of all phases together are insulatedly accommodated in a closed metal casing and the two end contact holders of the or each switch work are connected through connecting members having the shape of coaxial hollow spherical caps which face each other with their edges to the connecting conductors of the circuit-breaker which extend insulatedly through the wall of the casing, said spherical cap-shaped connecting members forming at the same time potential gradient controlling shields.
