Patent number: 11583631Abstract: Disclosed is a method of controlling operation of a medical device that regulates delivery of a fluid medication to a user. The method receives meter-generated values that are indicative of a physiological characteristic of the user, and are produced in response to operation of an analyte meter device. The method obtains sensor-generated values that are indicative of the physiological characteristic of the user, and are produced in response to operation of a continuous analyte sensor device, different than the analyte meter device. The medical device is operated in different modes when: a valid meter-generated value is available; a valid meter-generated value is unavailable and a current sensor-generated value satisfies first quality criteria; or a valid meter-generated value is unavailable and the current sensor-generated value satisfies second quality criteria but does not satisfy the first quality criteria.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2020Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: MEDTRONIC MINIMED, INC.Inventors: Alexander S. Campbell, Risako Morawiec, Salman Monirabbasi

Publication number: 20180137252Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are provided for monitoring a physiological condition of a patient. An exemplary method involves a client computing device monitoring a first network for an indication data is available from a monitoring device associated with the patient, and in response to detecting the indication, establishing a communications session with the monitoring device on the first network and receiving the measurement data from the monitoring device over the first network. The client computing device then uploads the measurement data to a remote device on a second network distinct from the first network. In exemplary embodiments, the client computing device also obtains event log data at the client computing device and uploads the event log data to the remote device on the second network. In one embodiment, the first network is a personal area network and the second network is a communications network.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2017Publication date: May 17, 2018Inventors: Nicholas S. Mairs, Robert A. Buechler, Risako Morawiec, Richard A. Sanden, Yi Guan
