Patent number: 8502596Abstract: Embodiments provide methods, devices, circuitry and systems for supporting or implementing functionality to provide a filtering circuit, and for providing a transmitter, receiver or transceiver incorporating the same. One embodiment provides a circuit for filtering signals. The circuit outputs a plurality of signals at a plurality of frequencies, each of the signals being attenuated by an amount determined by the frequency of the signal. The circuit attenuates signals output at a first frequency by an amount which is low relative to the attenuation of signals output at frequencies other than the first frequency. The circuit further attenuates signals output at a second frequency by an amount which is high relative to the attenuation of signals output at frequencies other than the second frequency. Responsive to a change in the control signal, the circuit changes the first and second frequencies while maintaining a fixed ratio between the first and second frequencies.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2012Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Renesas Mobile CorporationInventors: Risto Heikki Sakari Kaunisto, Jouni Kristian Kaukovuori, Petri Tapani Eloranta, Jari Johannes Heikkinen, Jonne Juhani Riekki

Patent number: 8428545Abstract: Circuitry for use in a direct conversion transmitting or receiving chains includes mixing circuitry which converts baseband signal to radio frequency or vice versa. A local oscillator to provide a signal having a first component and a second component at a harmonic of the first to the mixing circuitry. The circuitry has a filter circuit which attenuates signals output at a first frequency by an amount which is low relative and which attenuates signals output at a second frequency by an amount which is high, both being relative to the attenuation of signals output at frequencies other than the second frequency. The filter circuit is tunable to vary the frequencies, and configured such that the second frequency is maintained at a predetermined integer multiple of the first frequency.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2012Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignee: Renesas Mobile CorporationInventors: Risto Heikki Sakari Kaunisto, Jouni Kristian Kaukovuori, Petri Tapani Eloranta, Jari Johannes Heikkinen, Jonne Juhani Riekki

Patent number: 8290029Abstract: A super-regenerative transceiver that has an antenna interface for an antenna is self-tuned with a self-tuning unit configured. The self-tuning unit makes the transceiver to repeatedly perform a self-tuning cycle until the amplitude meets a predetermined detection condition or a predetermined criterion is met. The self-tuning cycle involves the following: transmitting to the antenna a probe signal with one or more pulses; receiving from the antenna a ringing detection signal; determining if the ringing detection signal reflects tails of the probe signal with amplitude meeting a predetermined detection condition; and adjusting of the tuning of the super-regenerative transceiver if the amplitude does not meet the predetermined detection condition.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2011Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Joni Jorma Marius Jantunen, Jaakko Valtteri Varteva, Jari-Jukka Harald Kaaja, Risto Heikki Sakari Kaunisto, Bertrand Gomez, Michael Pelissier

Patent number: 8223901Abstract: A wideband signal comprising both a wanted signal and narrowband interference is received in a wideband receiver. The receiver comprises an interference detection unit comprising a set of sub-band filters. With the aid of the sub-band filters the received signal is processed to detect a sub-band containing the narrowband interference in time domain.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2007Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Anu Hannele Huttunen, Risto Heikki Sakari Kaunisto, Andrey V. Belogolovy, Mikhail Y. Lyakh, Alan Edward Waltho
