    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of analyzing solutions and dispersions of dyes or their precursors and intermediates by optical and/or spectroscopic measurements, which method comprises using apparatus based on the principle of attenuated total reflection as sensor system. The advantage of the invention is that even highly concentrated, strongly colored solutions can be analyzed without prior dilution, as can also dye dispersions without separation of the solids content.
