Abstract: In an image forming apparatus which is connected to a network (30), and forms an image on the basis of data acquired from the network, upon receiving a URL that designates image data to be acquired from a console, the URL is interpreted, and a data request is submitted to a server via the network on the basis of the interpretation result. Image data sent from the server in response to that data request is stored. If the image data is a JPEG image, an image process that warrants excellent tone reproduction is made; if the image data is a GIF image, an image process that warrants high resolution is made, and the processed image data is output to a printer to print it out.

Abstract: To achieve the above objects, a communication apparatus for forming and outputting image data on the basis of data received via a network analyzes the contents of received electronic mail and extracts binary data encoded using character codes. The communication apparatus converts the extracted binary data into image data and outputs the data. The communication apparatus requests, where necessary, a server apparatus on the network to convert the binary data into the image data. If the conversion from the binary data into the image data is impossible, the communication apparatus reports this information to the source of the electronic mail in the same session as the electronic mail. The communication apparatus also generates a message from the reported information and transmits the message as electronic mail in a session other than the electronic mail.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus allows a user to obtain only data on a desirable WWW (World Wide Web) server and print the obtained data. The image processing apparatus, which accesses HTML (HyperText Markup Language) data on a WWW server in accordance with designated address information and which prints the HTML data, allows for requesting of a source that specifies the address information an acceptance for the accessing or printing of data other than those data that correspond to the designated address information and that are linked with the pertinent data, and when the acceptance requested cannot be obtained from the source that specifies the address information, halts access or printing of the data other than data that correspond to the designated address information and that are linked with the pertinent data.

Abstract: A protocol control unit obtains a setting information file to be set to a drawing unit from one of a plurality of host computers at a certain timing, the setting information file is analyzed and converted into commands to be set to the drawing unit by a data surveillance unit, and the converted commands are transferred to the drawing unit by a command communication unit, thereby automating each setting operation item for the drawing unit of the printing apparatuses, in a situation wherein a plurality of host computers share printing apparatuses connected to a network.

Abstract: A color image processing system is provided which receives binary image data from an external device, which generates the binary image data, so as to form color images. This system has a first mode in which a receiving side receives the same binary image signal color plane by color plane so that a color process is performed. It also has a second mode in which a printer receives binary image data in a plane sequence, which data indicates color planes corresponding to the types of coloring materials used for a printing operation of the printer, and then, the printer performs binary printing in accordance with the binary image data. An indicating device for indicating the first or second mode selects the first or second mode with respect to the binary image data from the external unit.

Image data is expanded on a image memory according to instructions from a computer. A black-color determining unit determines whether or not the expanded image data includes a black pixel and an edge extracting unit extracts an edge pixel in the expanded image data. A selector selects a black color only for a black edge portion and selects other colors in a half tone or in a pseudo-half tone as well as in black for a black but non-edge portion. It outputs the image according to such selections to a color printer.

The storage units store a plurality of images having common partial images. The apparatus further includes a determination unit for determining positions of the respective overlapped common partial images of the plurality of images stored in the storage units, a synthesis unit for forming an image by synthesizing the plurality of images according to a result of the determination by the determination unit, and an output unit for outputting the image synthesized by the synthesis unit.

Abstract: A film image reading apparatus has a conveying section for sequentially conveying a plurality of film originals to a reading position, a reading section for reading an image of a film original conveyed to the reading position by the conveying section, a detecting section for detecting a direction of the image of the film original conveyed to the reading position, and a controlling section for controlling outputting of an image signal from the reading section in accordance with the direction of the image detected by the detecting section.

Abstract: A remote control device for operating vehicle locks having a transmitter for transmitting a remote control signal. The transmitter converts keyword information into pulses of corresponding pulse widths and then pulse modulates these converted pulses prior to transmission as a remote control signal. A receiver is provided for demodulating and decoding the signal and comparing it to a preset code. If the signal corresponds to the preset code an execution signal is generated to produce the locking and locking function.
