  • Publication number: 20200241758
Abstract: A data storage system for managing storage of data from clients includes a data storage and a data storage orchestrator. The data storage includes an accelerator pool and a non-accelerator pool. The data storage orchestrator identifies a client assignment update event based on a change in use of the data storage by a client of the clients, makes a determination that the client assignment update event is a promotion event, and in response to the determination: promotes the client to move a primary data storage of the client from the non-accelerator pool to the accelerator pool.

  • Publication number: 20200244525
Abstract: A configurable device for use in a solution architecture includes computing resources. The configurable device further includes a computing resources state manager. The computing resources state manager obtains an out-of-band modification to the computing resources. The computing resources state manager, in response to obtaining the out-of-band modification, generates an out-of-band configuration based on the out-of-band modification. The computing resources state manager further, in response to obtaining the out-of-band modification, updates restoration information for the computing resources based on the out-of-band configuration.

  • Publication number: 20200244521
Abstract: A Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCl)/physical infrastructure correlation system includes a compute/networking/storage physical infrastructure system coupled to an HCl correlation system via a network. The HCl correlation system retrieves physical device information about respective physical devices included in the compute/networking/storage physical infrastructure system, as well as performance capability information of the respective physical devices included in the compute/networking/storage physical infrastructure system. The HCl correlation system then accesses an HCl component database, and uses the physical device information and the performance capability information to identify a plurality of HCl components that are configurable as an HCl system to perform functionality that is provided by the respective physical devices included in the compute/networking/storage physical infrastructure system.

  • Publication number: 20200232428
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has a variable intake manifold with one or more intake manifold tuning valves. Controlling the intake manifold tuning valve(s) involves determining an operating mode switching point of the intake manifold tuning valve(s). The operating mode switching point initiates opening and closing movements of the intake manifold tuning valve(s). The operating mode switching point is determined based in part or more upon temperature of intake air in the variable intake manifold.

  • Patent number: 10693722
Abstract: A coordination point includes a persistent storage and a processor. The persistent storage stores a distributed system map. The processor obtains role information associated with computing devices from validators without interacting with user resources of the computing devices; updates the distributed system map using the obtained role information; identifies a portion of the computing devices as members of a functionality group using the updated distributed system map; and enforces a configuration, associated with the functionality group, on the user resources of each computing device of the portion of the computing devices.

  • Publication number: 20200181016
Abstract: A method of making a structural lightweight and thermal insulating concrete is described. The concrete has a coarse aggregate partly replaced by recycled plastic pieces. This enables the concrete to maintain a high compressive strength, low thermal conductivity, and low weight, while providing a use for waste plastic. The waste plastic pieces may comprise polyethylene in the form of flakes, fibers, or granules. Due to its low unit weight, adequate compressive strength and high thermal resistance the developed concrete can be used as a structural lightweight and thermal insulating concrete. The use of this concrete leads to economic and environmental benefits.

  • Publication number: 20200182346
Abstract: A gear assembly includes a primary shaft, a driving gear, a driven gear, a secondary shaft, and a key wherein the primary shaft and the driving gear define a keyway for housing the key. The primary shaft defines a lower region of the keyway while the driving gear defines an upper region of the keyway. The driving gear may be mounted on the primary shaft such that the upper region and the lower regions of the keyway are aligned with each other in order for the keyway to house the key. The driven gear may be mounted on the secondary shaft such that the driven gear may be in meshing engagement with the driven gear. The aforementioned keyway defines a peninsula in a center portion of the driving gear. The peninsula is configured to abut a key disposed within the keyway.

  • Publication number: 20200142789
Abstract: A node for a distributed system includes computing resources and a node manager. The node manager identifies a failure of a second node of the distributed system; in response to identifying the failure: makes a first determination that the second node is a primary node of the distributed system; after making the first determination: identifies a new primary node by accessing a distributed system configuration stored in a primary share out-of-band management entity; and provides services of the distributed system to a client using the computing resources after identifying the new primary node.

  • Patent number: 10628146
Abstract: A method and system for non-disruptive host repurposing. Specifically, the method and system disclosed herein entail the re-optimization of datacenter hosts (e.g., servers) for any infrastructure and/or workload deployment. Different infrastructure and/or workload deployments may require the tuning of various memory parameters (or attributes) in the basic input-output system (BIOS) configuration. Presently, the repurposing of any given host demands the full reset of the system configuration—i.e., a disruptive process—prior to implementing the necessary BIOS configuration changes. In contrast, the method and system disclosed herein facilitate the repurposing of a host through the installation and/or uninstallation of configuration overlays—a modular approach to interchanging infrastructure and/or workload deployments—without the disruption of full system resets.

  • Publication number: 20200116078
Abstract: An internal combustion engine is configured to periodically open and close combustion chamber exhaust valves of the engine such that one exhaust valve is held open longer than another exhaust valve and/or one exhaust valve opens before another exhaust valve relative to top dead center. The resulting differential exhaust valve timing can at least partially compensate for different swallowing capacities of the scrolls of a twin-scroll turbine.

  • Patent number: 10623265
Abstract: A logical configuration manager includes a persistent storage for storing a configuration specification for a distributed system. The logical configuration manager also includes a node configuration generator that makes a first determination that the configuration specification includes a logical portion for the distributed system; in response to the first determination, generates node configurations for nodes of the distributed system based, in part, on the logical portion; and orchestrates application of the node configurations to the nodes of the distributed system. Orchestration of the application of the node configurations to the nodes of the distributed system places the distributed system in a state that complies with the logical portion of the configuration specification.

  • Patent number: 10620941
Abstract: A disclosed system generates a baseline configuration manifest indicative of a known good state of a plurality of information handling modules. Configuration update information indicating updates to the modules and dependencies between or among the information handling modules is received. The information handling system may then be updated in accordance with the configuration update information. The baseline configuration manifest may include a plurality of module manifests corresponding to the plurality of information handling modules and updating the information handling system may include updating the one or more information handling modules in a sequence determined by update sequence information. The configuration update information may include one or more update payloads corresponding to one or more of the information handling modules. In such cases, updating the information handling system may include providing each of update payload to its corresponding information handling module.
