    Abstract: A glider chair includes a glider frame and a seat, swingably suspended by a plurality of hangers from a base disposable on a support surface. The seat is pivotable with respect to the glider frame between an upper position and a lower position, and biased to the upper position. An automatic locking mechanism is coupled between the seat and at least one of the plurality of hangers. The automatic locking mechanism moves as the seat pivots to engage the at least one of the plurality of hangers to resist motion of the glider frame relative to the base when the seat is in the upper position.
