Abstract: An oral appliance for treating snoring and/or apnea including an upper appliance portion and a lower appliance portion. The upper appliance portion has an upper base which extends over anterior teeth of a user's upper jaw and two orthodontic wires, one extending from each lateral side of the upper base portion, while the lower appliance portion has a lower base portion which extends over anterior teeth of a user's lower jaw and two orthodontic wires, one extending from each lateral side of the upper base portion. A lingual portion of each wire extends posteriorly from a proximal end on the lingual side of a user's teeth, around the rearmost tooth of the user, and then extends anteriorly along the buccal side of the user's teeth to a distal end of the wire, with the wire positioned between the brackets and the gum line of a user when worn.

Abstract: An oral appliance for treating apnea comprising an upper dental tray and a lower dental tray. The upper tray includes an anterior buccal fastener on each lateral side, while the lower tray includes both an anterior buccal fastener and a posterior buccal fastener on each lateral side of the appliance. A vertically oriented elastic band is extended between the respective anterior buccal fasteners of the upper tray and the lower tray, while a diagonally oriented elastic band is extended between the anterior buccal fastener of the upper tray and the posterior buccal fastener of the lower tray.

Abstract: An oral appliance for use by a subject while wearing a nasal CPAP mask having an occlusal opening between a buccal portion and a lingual portion of a dental tray which allows centric occlusion. The upper and lower receptacle portions of the tray have interproximal protrusions to provide intimate contact between the appliance and a user's teeth to assist in retaining the user's jaws in place and prevent them from opening. The appliance includes buccal wall which extends into the vestibule of the user's mouth to assist in creating an intraoral seal.

The distal end of the projection extends below the incisal surface of the lower dental tray such that the anterior surface of the projection is adjacent to an anterior lingual surface of the lower dental tray when the appliance is worn by the subject, thereby limiting the anterior movement of the upper dental tray with respect to the lower dental tray and alleviating snoring and/or apnea.
