  • Publication number: 20240042091
Abstract: The invention is directed a hemostatic foam, to a process for preparing a biodegradable hemostatic foam, and to the use of said foam. The hemostatic foam comprises a blend of a chitosan hemostatic agent and a polymer, which polymer provides the foam with a porosity of 85-99% and a foam density of 0.01-0.2 g/cm3.

    Filed: June 2, 2023
    Publication date: February 8, 2024
Inventors: Bhushan Chandrashekhar-Bhat, Robbert Arnold De Graaf
  • Publication number: 20230234015
Abstract: A system for pressurising parallel batch reactors, and a process for using such to pressurize batch reactors to a pressure of between 20 and 150 barg. The reactors are closed by a removable reactor closure system for covering the mouth of such reactor, wherein the closure system comprises an elastomeric septum and a rigid member with a small hole covering the septum. The septum may be pierced with a specific hollow needle, e.g. to force pressurized gas in the reactor, which pressure can be maintained for prolonged periods after withdrawing the needle. The closure system does not require moving parts.

  • Patent number: 9422389
Abstract: The invention relates to processes for preparing a synthetic foam having present therein particles with a controlled particle distribution and the use of said foam, as well as to foams as such. Accordingly the invention is directed to a process for preparing a synthetic foam having present therein particles, wherein the distribution of said particles is controlled by the following steps of dissolving at least one synthetic polymer in one or more solvents to form a solution; contacting particles with said solution to form a polymer/particles mixture; and freeze-drying the polymer/particles mixture by: freezing the polymer/particles mixture; and subsequently subliming the one or more solvents to form a synthetic foam comprising said particles.
