  • Patent number: 11941359
Abstract: Methods and systems for identifying anatomical phrases in medical text. Methods and systems described herein use a syntactic approach to generate lists of relevant terms and define a grammar on these terms. • Patent number: 11594303
Abstract: A method (100) for standardizing gene nomenclature, comprising: (i) receiving (110) a source; (ii) tokenizing (120) the source; (iii) comparing (130) a first token to a prefix tree structure with a root node, edges, and leaf nodes; (iv) determining (140) which edge extending from the root node to associated first leaf nodes the first token matches; (v) updating (150) an identification pointer with the location of the first leaf node; (vi) determining (160) which of one or more edges that a second token matches; (vii) updating (170) the identification pointer with the location of the second leaf node; (viii) repeating (172) the determining (160) and updating (170) steps with subsequent tokens until a subsequent token fails to match an edge extending from a leaf node or there is no edge extending from the leaf node; and (ix) providing (180) an identification of a canonical gene name.

  • Patent number: 11183307
Abstract: The vocabulary of pertinent terms used to highlight/filter medical records in a text annotation system is continually updated based on user feedback. To maximize the effectiveness of this updating, feedback is extracted from all users of the system, thereby providing a ‘group-sourced’ vocabulary of pertinent terms. As each user modifies the provided vocabulary of pertinent terms to customize the text annotation system to conform to the user's preferences, the modifications are collected and communicated to the provider of the vocabulary of pertinent terms. The provider of the vocabulary of pertinent terms assimilates the modifications implemented by each user of the word annotation system to determine whether to modify the vocabulary of pertinent terms for subsequent users of the common vocabulary of pertinent terms.

  • Publication number: 20210358585
Abstract: A method (100) for generating a standardized cancer stage from a text-based source using an annotation system (400), comprising: (i) extracting (130), by a stage annotator, information from the text-based source relative to a stage of the patients cancer to generate cancer annotations; (ii) identifying (140), by a disease annotator, information from the text-based source indicative of a type of cancer; (iii) extracting (150), by a stage synonym annotator, information from the text-based source synonymous with a cancer to generate cancer annotations; (iv) converting (160), by a stage canonicalizer, the cancer annotations from the stage annotator and the stage synonym annotator to a standardized cancer stage; and (v) reporting (170) the standardized cancer stage, the report comprising the standardized cancer stage, the cancer annotations extracted sources from the text-based source, and/or the location of each of the cancer annotations within the text-based source.

  • Publication number: 20120191720
Abstract: The invention relates to a system (100) for identifying a document of a plurality of documents, based on a multidimensional image, the system (100) comprising an object unit (110) for identifying an object represented in the multidimensional image, based on a user input indicating a region of the multidimensional image, and further based on a model for modeling the object, determined by segmentation of the indicated region of the multidimensional image; a keyword unit (120) for identifying a keyword of a plurality of keywords, related to the identified object, based on an annotation of the model for modeling the object; and a document unit (130) for identifying the document of the plurality of documents, based on the identified keyword. Thus, the system advantageously facilitates a user's access to documents comprising information of interest based on a viewed multidimensional image. The document may be identified by its name or, preferably, by a link to the document.

  • Patent number: 7137125
Abstract: A method of controlling an arrangement of a plurality of hardware components, at least some of which are coupled to one another via signal leads, by means of a data processing unit in which there is executed a computer program which comprises sub-modules which correspond to the hardware components and are connected via data channels in conformity with the real signal leads between the hardware components. The software thus exactly duplicates the hardware structure and ensures that information flows horizontally and is always present in the relevant location. Moreover, the software can be simply and flexibly adapted to changes of the configuration of existing hardware components.
