  • Publication number: 20060076406
Abstract: A bagging station within a check-out counter system and for use by a cashier positioned in a cashier location within the check-out counter system. The bagging station includes a lower bag rack and an upper bag rack. The lower bag rack is configured to hold at least one bag for loading with a first portion of merchandise and defines a first upper edge. The upper bag rack is configured to hold at least one bag for loading with a second portion of merchandise. The upper bag rack is positioned behind the lower bag rack relative to the cashier location, and the upper bag rack defines a second upper edge. The first upper edge and the second upper edge are arranged in a terraced configuration. Check-out counter systems and methods of processing merchandise provide additional advantages.

  • Patent number: 5929650
Abstract: A method of detecting defective CMOS devices by quiescent current (IDDQ) behavior using a monitor circuit resident in the expendable areas of a die and/or wafer. One embodiment of the present invention incorporates a monitor unit (10) into the scribe grid of a wafer, where pads (2, 3, 4) are built in the corners of the die (5) and connected to the monitor unit (10) via metal connects in the wafer. The monitor unit (10) determines defective die based on IDDQ as expressed by decay of voltage (Vdd) in time, where Vdd is supplied to a die by way of a switch (20) in the monitor unit (10). Alternate embodiments incorporate various configurations and incorporate functional and other tests into a wafer level test system. Other embodiments provide the monitor unit on the die, allowing for later testing and user confirmation.

  • Patent number: 5773115
Abstract: An automotive trim panel is made by using an apparatus and method that bond together two trim coverstock segments having different colors, gauges or textures and two rigid substrate components into a single trim panel with the two coverstock segments meeting along a finished joint line. The method includes joining the coverstock segments together to form a rough seam, supporting the substrate components on two spaced-apart movable mold components with each substrate component having a mating flange that extends into the space between the mold components, applying an adhesive layer to the substrate upper surfaces, heating the joined coverstock segments and vacuum or positive air pressure-forming them across the substrate upper surfaces with the rough seam lying midway between the spaced-apart mold components.

  • Patent number: 5516570
Abstract: A covered article such as an automotive trim panel comprises a substrate having a front surface to be covered, a back surface and a plurality of holes extending through it for vacuum drawing a trim cover stock against the front surface. The substrate has sets of parallel saw-tooth holder grooves in a peripheral margin of the back surface adjacent to an edge of the substrate for mechanically interlocking with marginal portions of trim cover stock and transverse manifold grooves that communicate with the holder grooves. An adhesive is applied to the front surface and the peripheral margin and the substrate is supported on a vacuum buck so that the peripheral margin overhangs the buck and the manifold grooves communicate with a vacuum source of the buck.

The substrate has sets of parallel saw-tooth holder grooves in a peripheral margin of the back surface adjacent to an edge of the substrate that is to be wrapped by the trim cover stock and transverse manifold grooves that communicate with the holder grooves. An adhesive is applied to the front surface and the peripheral margin and the substrate is supported on a vacuum buck so that the peripheral margin overhangs the buck and the manifold grooves communicate with a vacuum source of the buck. The trim cover stock is drawn against the front surface of the substrate and a marginal portion of the trim cover stock is simultaneously drawn against the peripheral margin of the back surface by vacuum to wrap the trim cover stock around the edge of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4094356
Abstract: A system for recovering heat from a geothermal well includes a quantity of heavy drilling mud filling the bottom of the geothermal well. A hollow heat absorber is disposed within the drilling mud in the well bottom. The heat absorber is supplied with a working fluid such as freon through a supply pipe extending from the top of the well, the pressure head of the working fluid at the heat absorber being commensurate with the depth of the well. A high pressure gas delivery pipe extends from the heat absorber to the top of the well, and is connected to a heat exchanger disposed within a water boiler. The outlet of the heat exchanger is connected to a working fluid supply tank, which is connected in turn to the upper end of the supply pipe. A thermostatic valve interposed between the supply tank and the supply pipe controls the amount of working fluid entering the heat absorber in accordance with the temperature and heat demands of the water boiler.
