  • Patent number: 8190986
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to various architectures that can, inter alia, facilitate creation of a synch file as well as facilitate interpretation of the synch file. Both creation and interpretation can be accomplished in conjunction with an original media asset. The synch file can include transformation commands that can operate on a presentation of the asset rather than upon the asset itself. Accordingly, what is actually perceived by a content consumer during a presentation of the asset need not be exactly what the asset creator fixed in a tangible medium. Rather, the content consumer can observe a derivative media presentation based upon interpretation of the synch file.

  • Publication number: 20110242276
Abstract: A stereoscopic production solution, e.g., for live events, that provides 3D video asset distribution to multiple devices and networks is described. In some embodiments, live or recorded 3D video content may be accessible by different service providers with different subscribers/users and protocols across a network of the content provider. A first video signal corresponding to a first video feed for one eye of a viewer may be received and a second video signal corresponding to a second video feed for the second eye of the viewer may be received. The first video signal and the second video signal may be encoded. The encoded first video signal and the encoded second video signal may be transmitted independently over a network. The two video signals may be received and frame synced at an off-site location for eventual rendering to a display device.

  • Patent number: 8027836
Abstract: A speech processing system includes a multiplexer that receives speech data input as part of a conversation turn in a conversation session between two or more users where one user is a speaker and each of the other users is a listener in each conversation turn. A speech recognizing engine converts the speech data to an input string of acoustic data while a speech modifier forms an output string based on the input string by changing an item of acoustic data according to a rule. The system also includes a phoneme speech engine for converting the first output string of acoustic data including modified and unmodified data to speech data for output via the multiplexer to listeners during the conversation turn.

  • Patent number: 7921589
Abstract: A new firearm action is described. The action may be adapted to single-shot handguns and rifles, lever-action firearms, single-action revolvers or to other types of firearms. The new firearm action provides a safety device in a firearm that does not affect the trigger pull when firing the firearm and maintains a durable and reliable action. The trigger cannot be pulled when it is in the safe position, and when the action is in the safe position, the hammer cannot contact the firing pin. The action does not allow the barrel of the firearm to be opened when the hammer is in the cocked position. It also keeps the barrel from being closed if the hammer is cocked when the barrel is in the open position. The hammer cannot contact the firing pin if the top slide is in the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 7778596
Abstract: A wireless repeater configured for implementation in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The repeater can be configured to receive and rebroadcast communications using various types of airlinks in a wireless communication system. The wireless repeater can include a receiver configured to sense the type of airlink being supported by the repeater. The repeater can then selectively apply a repeater identifying watermark to a signal based on the type of airlink. The repeater may be configured to periodically scan an operating bandwidth for supported airlinks and can configure the watermarking applied to signals within the channels based on the detected airlinks.

  • Publication number: 20100188217
Abstract: Disclosed is a triple-sensor motion detector for illuminating the approach to a display case or other object. The triple-sensor motion detector provides a field of detection that spans the front width of the case, yet does not include the areas along the sides of the case. The detector reduces inadvertent triggering of the illumination by persons approaching the side of the case or approaching another case on the other side of an aisle.

  • Publication number: 20100155583
Abstract: A fiber optic interrogator includes a broadband optical source, at least one beam splitter directing output of the optical source to an array of fiber optic gratings, at least one linear transmission or reflection filter, at least one optical receiver and at least one amplifier associated with each receiver. In one aspect of the invention, a linear transmission filter is used to convert the change in center wavelength of a grating reflectivity spectrum to a change in intensity, which is proportional to the change in the grating central wavelength. In another aspect of the invention, a pair of opposite-sloped linear transmission filters are utilized to normalize the received and filtered reflections with respect to total optical power. In another aspect of the invention, the optical source is pulsed, and return pulses from each fiber optic grating to be measured are sampled by the interrogator at different times.
