  • Publication number: 20120262808
Abstract: An apparatus or structure is provided for absorbing incident radiation, either electromagnetic or sound, comprising a multiple-layer composite means utilizing electromagnetic- or sound-radiation absorbing and partially transmitting layers on a substrate of conventional electromagnetic- or sound-absorbing and partially reflecting material, which act in concert to absorb a significant amount of the incident electromagnetic or sound radiation. A metamaterial [MM] means, configured for a specific electromagnetic or sound radiation frequency band that absorbs incident electromagnetic or sound radiation directed to a substrate of conventional electromagnetic-radiation absorbing or acoustical absorbing material, such as an array of pyramidal foam absorbers. • Publication number: 20120259788
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to various architectures that can, inter alia, facilitate creation of a synch file as well as facilitate interpretation of the synch file. Both creation and interpretation can be accomplished in conjunction with an original media asset. The synch file can include transformation commands that can operate on a presentation of the asset rather than upon the asset itself. Accordingly, what is actually perceived by a content consumer during a presentation of the asset need not be exactly what the asset creator fixed in a tangible medium. Rather, the content consumer can observe a derivative media presentation based upon interpretation of the synch file.

  • Publication number: 20110242276
Abstract: A stereoscopic production solution, e.g., for live events, that provides 3D video asset distribution to multiple devices and networks is described. In some embodiments, live or recorded 3D video content may be accessible by different service providers with different subscribers/users and protocols across a network of the content provider. A first video signal corresponding to a first video feed for one eye of a viewer may be received and a second video signal corresponding to a second video feed for the second eye of the viewer may be received. The first video signal and the second video signal may be encoded. The encoded first video signal and the encoded second video signal may be transmitted independently over a network. The two video signals may be received and frame synced at an off-site location for eventual rendering to a display device.

  • Patent number: 8027836
Abstract: A speech processing system includes a multiplexer that receives speech data input as part of a conversation turn in a conversation session between two or more users where one user is a speaker and each of the other users is a listener in each conversation turn. A speech recognizing engine converts the speech data to an input string of acoustic data while a speech modifier forms an output string based on the input string by changing an item of acoustic data according to a rule. The system also includes a phoneme speech engine for converting the first output string of acoustic data including modified and unmodified data to speech data for output via the multiplexer to listeners during the conversation turn.
