  • Patent number: 10372537
Abstract: In some examples, both object data and corresponding metadata are stored on thin provisioned block storage in which blocks for the storage of the object data and the metadata are dynamically provisioned from a shared pool. For instance, the metadata may be stored on the block storage using a tree data structure that may grow proportionally with the corresponding stored object data. The object storage may automatically adapt to the size and number of objects being stored, and storage space for metadata may be allocated dynamically on demand. Additionally, some implementations include storing data across multiple trays. For instance, a plurality of storage extents of an extent group may be allocated across a plurality of storage devices on multiple trays. The extent allocation may be tray-aware by allocating extents to maximize the probability that data remains available/recoverable in the presence of a failure in one or more trays.

  • Publication number: 20190082360
Abstract: Stateful roaming techniques are provided for use in a wireless network. In one embodiment, a method is provided that includes: obtaining flow information descriptive of one or more traffic flows associated with a wireless client device that is associated to a current access point in a wireless network; storing state data representing the flow information for flows associated with the wireless client device together with a traffic descriptor for each flow; determining that the wireless client device is seeking to roam from the current access point to a new access point; and sending the state data for the wireless client device to the new access point to enable the new access point to apply a policy based on the state data before the wireless client device completes its roam to the new access point.

  • Patent number: 10176379
Abstract: In one example embodiment, an integration system obtains, based on data from a wireless location system, location data of a wireless device in a spatial area. The integration system determines location data of a person in the spatial area based on at least one image of the person captured by a camera. Based on the location data of the wireless device and the location data of the person, the integration system calculates a proximity parameter representing a spatial relationship between the wireless device and the person. Based on the proximity parameter, the integration system computes a probability of association between the wireless device and the person and determines, based on the probability of association, whether the person is a user of the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20170265160
Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose a range detection system that includes a line-of-sight (LOS) emitter that outputs a LOS signal (e.g., visible light, infrared, etc.) which is detected at a receiver (e.g., a photodiode). The receiver outputs a signal representing the intensity of the LOS signal at the receiver. The output signal is converted into a digital signal which is then used to identify a distance value corresponding to the intensity of the LOS signal. For example, the range detection system may include a data structure that maps a plurality of digital signals to respective distance values. In this manner, the intensity of the LOS signal measured at the receiver can be correlated to a distance between the emitter and the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20170206814
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe a dripping system that displays an animation using different colored light sources. In one embodiment, the dripping system includes red, green, and blue light sources which can be activated individually or in combination to emit light that reflects off liquid droplets emitted by the dripping system. Controlling the timing of the light sources permits the dripping system to illuminate the water droplets at different locations along their path which generate the animations. In one embodiment, the dripping system changes animations or alters the animation in response to user interaction. For example, different user hand gestures may be mapped to different water droplet animations. An input/output (I/O) system detects the user interaction and changes the displayed animation.

  • Patent number: 9689958
Abstract: The present technology may be directed a system for determining an angle and distance between a positioning node and secondary device using a plurality of acoustic transmitters to transmit acoustic ranging signals that are modulated using ranging sequences, respectively. The system includes an acoustic receiver to detect the acoustic ranging signals, and a signal processor to calculate times of arrival and a plurality of aliased angles of arrival of the acoustic ranging signals. An anti-aliasing module may select an angle of arrival from the calculated plurality of aliased angles using the times of arrival of the acoustic ranging signals. A time of flight may be calculated from a comparison of times of arrival for radio signals and the acoustic signals. The time of flight may be used to calculate the distance between the positioning node and secondary device.

  • Patent number: 8217760
Abstract: In an RFID system with existing reader and tags communicating with each other, appliqués derive information by listening to this communication to yield significant performance benefits, while not affecting the communication between the existing nodes. For example, an appliqué capable of receiving beamforming can estimate the angle of arrival of the signal emitted by a tag, thereby providing information that can be used to localize the tag. An appliqué may be connected to an existing reader by means of an existing port, such as to an antenna port or to an Ethernet port. The information from appliqués can be integrated with that obtained from existing nodes at either the appliqués, or further up the hierarchy in middleware.
