  • Patent number: 7681413
Abstract: A jewelry product whose ring shank is strengthened after ring sizing by securing a protective reinforcement plate made of a material to a recess in the ring shank. The ring shank is less susceptible to wear from abrasion than is the ring shank. The ring shank may have a decorative portion facing outwardly located diametrically opposite the recessed portion. An insert may be seated about the decorative portion.

  • Patent number: 7300047
Abstract: A sheet feed mechanism having a multi-layer structure. The multi-layer structure has a wear layer adapted to contact a sheet during sheet feeding and a replacement indicator layer adjacent the wear layer. The replacement indicator layer is adapted to indicate a wear condition of the multi-layer structure upon wear through the wear layer to the replacement indicator layer.

  • Patent number: 5778507
Abstract: A machine and method for making a strip of dome arrays on a backup strip, wherein the dome arrays include a plurality of domes in a predetermined non-linear pattern and in oriented relation to each other that are adhesively mounted on a dome seal. The machine comprises a punch press or stamping machine capable of simultaneously stamping a pattern of domes in non-linear arrangement and oriented relative to each other and depositing those domes onto the adhesive side of a dome seal strip. The machine also includes means for feeding dome seals to the stamping machine and also for kiss-cutting the dome seal while on the backup strip to define a plurality of successively arranged dome arrays.

  • Patent number: 5029368
Abstract: A mechanism for releasing one member from another. A piston is disposed partially in the bore of one member and partially in the bore of the other member to bridge the gap therebetween for maintaining attachment thereof. The piston is responsive to a propulsive force for movement forwardly to a second position wherein all of the piston is disposed in the other member. The other member bore has a reduced-diameter portion forward of and adjoining an increased-diameter rearward portion thereby providing a shoulder. The piston has a forward portion and a rearward portion having substantially the same diameters as the forward and rearward bore portions respectively of the other member. A tapered portion connects the piston forward and rearward portions and is impelled on the shoulder when the piston is moved to the second position.

  • Patent number: 4691169
Abstract: A unique electrode assembly primarily designed to pass an induced current through a liquid phase by transfer of molecules adsorbed on sub-micron charged particles from cathode to anode to enable conductance determinations on non-polar liquids, for example, hydrocarbon oils that have been altered while in the molecular state to enable a degree of polarity. The novel electrode assembly comprises a cylinder within a cylinder configuration, the outer cylinder containing orifices equalizing area for largest electrode area within smallest liquid volume. A one millimeter gap enables increased more accurate, electrode component signal representations.A magnetic means is provided for nullifying electro-magnetic fields induced in electrode assemblies where the liquid is non-polar containing molecules oriented to conductive polar state by additives such as sub-micron particles and the induced field will cause polar disorientation with lowered conductivity.

  • Patent number: 4417212
Abstract: A method of measuring relatively small amounts of saturated hydrocarbon oil in an essentially nonconductive liquid, comprises the steps of mixing the oil and liquid with a conductivity additive such as colloidal metal-containing particles to render the oil conductive without rendering the nonconductive liquid conductive and then measuring an electric current passed through the mixture to obtain an indication of the amount of oil in the mixture. The metal-containing particles may for example be selected from the group consisting of chromium dicarbide, chromium silicide and silver peroxide.

  • Patent number: 4313086
Abstract: A method of measuring relatively small amounts of hydrocarbon oil contained in water, or other immiscible liquids including mixing a solvent and a conductivity additive with the oil and water or immiscible liquid, hereinafter termed "water" as it will be the most prevalent use, to form a mixture. The solvent is water rejecting and extracts the oil from the water. A method of producing a chemo-conductivity additive to render the electrically non-conductive oil of the mixture electrically conductive without rendering the solvent conductive or adding to any existing water conductivity. The amount of oil is electronically ascertained by measuring the conductivity of an electrical current passed through the mixture after the oil has been rendered conductive.A novel apparatus is provided to perform the process. The apparatus comprises all the elements for carrying out the process including a separating funnel, measuring beaker, electrode assembly, electronics assembly and both analog and digital displays.
