  • Patent number: 7946547
Abstract: A universal clamp assembly for receiving an electrical conductor having a variety of diameters without exchanging parts. An insulator includes a support fitting thereon. The clamp assembly includes a keeper fixed to an end of the fitting with two guide arms disposed along two sides thereof. An internally threaded bore in the keeper has a longitudinal axis. An externally threaded bolt is threadedly received in the bore. The assembly also includes a clamp member relatively rotatably receiving and axially restraining the bolt and located adjacent to the keeper for translational movement of the clamp member relative to the keeper along the longitudinal axis of the bolt. The clamp member includes two axially extending sliding arms adjacent the two guide arms. Rotation of the bolt along the longitudinal axis moves the clamp member towards and away from the keeper.

  • Patent number: 7709743
Abstract: An integrated insulator sealing and shielding assembly includes a rubber housing having a plurality of radial weathersheds and a tapered end adjacent an endmost radial weathershed. A metal fitting is disposed adjacent to the endmost radial weathershed and receives the tapered end. A collar assembly is disposed at an upper end of the metal fitting and includes two apertures between an outer surface thereof and the rubber housing for receiving a sealant. At least one sealing surface, preferably four, is disposed between the collar assembly and a bottom end of the rubber housing for securing the connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 7588224
Abstract: A universal clamp assembly having a support fitting with arms and a threaded bolt mounted to the arms allowing rotation about a longitudinal axis of the bolt. The bolt is retained against axial movement along the longitudinal axis. A clamp member is rotatably mounted on the bolt between the arms for rotation of the clamp member relative to the support fitting about the longitudinal axis. The clamp member is restrained against axial movement relative to the support fitting and the bolt along the longitudinal axis. The clamp includes a guide opening through which the bolt extends. A keeper is threadedly mounted on the bolt and partially received in the guide opening. The keeper slides in the guide opening along the longitudinal axis and is restrained against rotation about the longitudinal axis of the bolt relative to the clamp member. The keeper is rotatable about the longitudinal axis concurrently with the clamp member.

  • Patent number: 6984790
Abstract: A collar assembly for an insulator assembly has first and second members secured together on the insulator assembly. The first member has first and second fastener holes and a first opening. The second member is connected to the first member, and has third and fourth fastener holes aligned with the first and second fastener holes, respectively. A second opening is formed in the second member. The first and second openings are adapted to receive a sealant. A first fastener is inserted through the first and third fastener holes and a second fastener is inserted through the fourth and second fastener holes to secure the first member to the second member on the insulator assembly.

  • Patent number: 5374789
Abstract: An electrical assembly, such as an insulator or a surge arrester, having an elastomeric weathershed housing, a pair of end fittings, and a pair of sealing systems for coupling and sealing the interfaces between the end fittings and the ends of the weathershed housing. Each of the end fittings has a bore for receiving an end portion of the weathershed housing, and an annular flange extending inwardly from the bore for engaging and compressing the end portion of the weathershed housing inwardly to form a primary annular seal without crimping the end fitting against the weathershed housing. At least one locking ring is positioned between the end portion of the weathershed housing and the inner surface of the bore for forming a secondary annular seal. Additional sealing can also be provided by axially compressing the weathershed housing between the end fittings.
