    Abstract: Methods, systems and computer software products are provided for backing up the recording of television events by a primary recording device when the primary recording device fails or is unavailable. One or more backup video recording devices is specified in a networked household entertainment system for backing up the primary recording device. If the primary recording device is powered down, fails, or is otherwise unavailable at the time the television event is aired, the controller of the networked household entertainment system instructs one of the backup recording devices to record the event.

The display device includes an overlay controller for combining the primary unencoded stream and the secondary unencoded stream to produce a composite stream. The display device includes a display adapted to display images corresponding to the composite stream, the images including a primary image corresponding to the primary unencoded stream and a secondary image corresponding to the secondary information overlaid on the primary image corresponding to the overlay information.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method of restoring an information handling system utilizing a restore medium and a network storage medium. In a first aspect of the present invention, a method of restoring an information handling system utilizing a restore medium to provide software components over a network includes accessing the restore medium by the information handling system and loading a first set of software components capable of supplying data suitable for making the information handling system operational. A connection is initiated with a network storage medium over a network, the connection initiated by a program of instructions included on the removable medium. A second set of software components are received from the network storage medium over the network connection, wherein the second set of software components is suitable for at least one of updating the first set of software components and providing a software component not included on the removable medium.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for magnifying a display of video data. In an exemplary embodiment, a system for magnifying a display of data includes a receiver for receiving a first set of video data including video data formatted for display in a first resolution. A translator is also included for translating the first set of video data formatted for display in the first resolution to a second set of video data formatted for display in a second resolution, the second resolution being a lower resolution than the first resolution. A magnifier is also included for magnifying a display of video data by formatting the first set of video into a third set of video data. The third set of video data is capable of display on a display device capable of displaying video data in the second resolution and incapable of displaying video data in the first resolution. The third set of video data is in an enlarged format with respect to the second set of video data.
