  • Patent number: 12531164
Abstract: A debris filter bottom nozzle for a nuclear reactor fuel assembly. The nozzle comprising venturi-shaped flow passages within a plate body. At least one flow passage has a filter therein, with the uppermost and lowermost ends of the filter being situated between the upper and lower ends of the flow passage. The plate body, the flow passages, and each filter are co-formed as a single piece unitary body. The co-forming may be via additive manufacturing.

  • Publication number: 20220215971
Abstract: A debris filtering skirt configured for use with a flow plate of a bottom nozzle of a nuclear reactor is disclosed herein. The debris filtering skirt includes a base portion defining an opening between a bottom edge and a reactor vessel lower core plate, and the opening includes a dimension configured to position the bottom nozzle a predetermined distance away from the reactor vessel lower core plate. The debris filtering skirt also includes a plurality of holes, and at least one hole of the plurality of holes includes a dimension determined based, at least in part, on a predetermined size of debris capable of traversing through the inlet and the outlet. The dimension of the opening and the dimension of the at least one hole are determined based, at least in part, on a predetermined loss coefficient of the bottom nozzle.

  • Patent number: 5239200
Abstract: An apparatus for cooling an array of integrated circuit chips mounted on a substrate comprises a thermally conductive cooling plate which has a plurality of integral, substantially parallel, closed-end channels. A cover which may be made of plastic is adapted to seal the periphery of the cooling member and is spaced from the channel-containing surface. The cover has a plurality of integral baffles extending toward the cooling member into and along the length of the channels. The baffles and the channels are spaced from each other to permit passage of a coolant between and through the channels in a flow direction normal to the channels. An inlet and outlet for the coolant are provided on opposite ends of the apparatus, and may be located in the cover. In an alternate embodiment, the cooling plate contains at least two sets of the channels, each set of channels receiving a separate flow of coolant, either in parallel or in series with each other.
