    Abstract: A portable communication device is equipped with keypad filter circuitry, which is operable to eliminate or otherwise minimize calls, such as emergency calls and non-emergency calls, due to accidental or unintentional key press sequences. The keypad filter circuitry receives keypad input, analyzes the received keypad input and determines if the keypad input is accidental or unintentional. If the keypad input is determined to be accidental or unintentional, the portable communication device takes action to prevent initiation of the call and/or unlocking of the keypad.
