  • Patent number: 10636053
Abstract: An online system evaluates the quality of a content publisher displaying sponsored content items. To determine a likelihood of conversion actions associated with the sponsored content items, the online system uses information about users and their interactions with sponsored content items featured within the content publisher against interactions with sponsored content items featured within a benchmark system (e.g., online system). By determining a ratio of these interactions, the online system can determine a likelihood of conversion actions for the content publisher. The online system uses this likelihood of conversions to determine a publisher quality score that it uses to normalize third party value contributions toward placing sponsored content items on the content publisher. Thus, third party systems no longer need to be concerned about the intrinsic value of a given content publisher as third party value contributions are normalized based on the content publisher's conversion rates.

  • Patent number: 10634781
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for computing a target distance estimate using a wireless device. A waveform is transmitted to an object (e.g., automobile) by a wireless device. Reflections of the waveform are then received, such as on two forward directional antennas. A channel impulse response (e.g., a frequency-domain channel impulse response) is then obtained from the reflections. A parameterized function is applied to the channel impulse response. Parameters of the parameterized function are fitted to measure the channel impulse response. A distance to the object is then estimated based on the fitted parameters. In this manner, by operating wireless devices as radar devices, a higher accuracy in target range estimates can be achieved with less spectrum bandwidth when compared to standard radar waveforms with standard radar processing. Furthermore, by utilizing wireless devices as opposed to radar devices, the cost problem associated with radar is addressed.

  • Patent number: 10623075
Abstract: A multi-port transmitter can synthesize and send a first plurality of transmit signals having a separability characteristic which permits them to be differentiated from one another. A receiver can then detect one or more receiver signals which include one or more combinations of received versions of the first plurality of transmit signals. The receiver may use the separability characteristic to determine the received versions of the first plurality of transmit signals from the one or more receiver signals. Then, the receiver may determine an estimated signal corresponding to the estimated receiver response to a second plurality of virtual transmit signals which comprise a combination of the first plurality of transmit signals. Determining the estimated signal may include forming a combination of the received versions of the first plurality of transmit signals.

  • Patent number: 10590514
Abstract: Techniques for forming an enclosure comprised of aluminum zirconium alloy layer are disclosed. In some embodiments, aluminum ions and zirconium ions can be dissolved in a non-aqueous ionic liquid in an electrolytic plating bath. A reverse pulsed electric current can facilitate in co-depositing the aluminum ions and the zirconium ions onto a metal substrate. The resulting aluminum zirconium alloy layer can include nanocrystalline grain structures, which can impart the alloy layer with increased hardness and increased resistance to scratching, denting, and abrasion. In some embodiments, the aluminum zirconium alloy layer can be anodized to form an aluminum oxide layer. Subsequent to the anodization operation, the oxidized layer is able to retain its substantially neutral color.

  • Patent number: 10590558
Abstract: Techniques for forming an enclosure comprised of an aluminum alloy are disclosed. In some embodiments, aluminum ions and metal element ions can be dissolved in a non-aqueous ionic liquid in an electrolytic plating bath. A reverse pulsed electric current can facilitate in co-depositing the aluminum ions and the metal element ions onto a metal substrate. The resulting aluminum alloy layer can include nanocrystalline structures, which can impart the alloy layer with increased hardness and increased resistance to scratching, corrosion, and abrasion. In some embodiments, the metal element ion is chromium and the aluminum alloy layer includes a chromium oxide passivation layer formed via a passivation process. Subsequent to the passivation process, the formation of the chromium oxide layer does not impart a change in color to the aluminum alloy layer. In some embodiments, hafnium ions are co-deposited with aluminum ions to form an aluminum hafnium alloy.
