  • Patent number: 5486578
Abstract: The present invention relates to curable silicone coatings containing silicone resins. More particularly the present invention relates to curable silicone coating compositions comprising an olefinic organopolysiloxane, an organohydrogensiloxane, a platinum catalyst, and silicone resins in which the resins are prepared by a continuous method whereby the ratio of reactants is kept constant thus producing less variation in the final silicone resin that is produced. The silicone resins provide beneficial release properties when added to curable silicone coating compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 1994
Date of Patent: January 23, 1996
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Leslie E. Carpenter, II, Robert A. Ekeland
  • Patent number: 5391673
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for making silicone resins. More particularly, the present invention relates to methods for producing silicone resins comprising monofunctional units in the form of R.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 units and tetrafunctional units in the form of SiO.sub.4/2 units. The methods of the present invention are characterized by a continuous process for producing silicone resins while maintaining a constant ratio of reactants thus producing less variation in the final product. The present invention is further related to the compositions produced by the methods of this invention.

  • Patent number: 5162479
Abstract: The use of siloxanes for conditioning of hair is disclosed. They hold particular usefulness as substitutes for oxidizing agents in the hair waving process. A novel polymeric composition which comprises a silanol endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, cyclic siloxanes, a chlorobenzyl-functional siloxane and a catalyst is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 8, 1991
Date of Patent: November 10, 1992
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Daniel J. Halloran, Thomas H. Lane, Robert A. Ekeland
  • Patent number: 5145978
Abstract: There is disclosed a herbicide composition in which a postemergent herbicide is activated by the inclusion of a silicone glycol adjuvant consisting essentially of (i) a silicone glycol having an average of 4 or 5 ethylene oxide units in its glycol chain and (ii) a silicone glycol dispersant compound for component (i). The composition provides enhanced phytotoxicity in the control of weeds, particularly velvetleaf plants, and shows an improved degree of rainfastness relative to prior art compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 11, 1991
Date of Patent: September 8, 1992
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation

  • Patent number: 5059704
Abstract: There is disclosed a herbicidal composition in which a foliar-applied herbicide is activated by the inclusion of a silicone glycol-silicone alkane terpolymer adjuvant. The composition provides enhanced phytotoxicity in the control of narrowleaf weeds, particularly Barnyardgrass, Quackgrass and Johnsongrass, and often also shows an improved degree of rainfastness relative to similar herbicidal compositions employing prior art silicone glycol adjuvants.
