Patent number: 9868564Abstract: A metal container body 1 comprises a base and a generally cylindrical side wall 3. The top edge of the cylindrical side wall is rolled over to form a hollow annular bead 5 surrounding the upper open end of the container body and a notch 6 is formed at a circumferential point in the annular bead. The container body is for use with a releasable closure 2 formed with an end wall 7 and a depending skirt 8 and having an annular layer of sealing material 9 provided on the inside of the end wall adjacent the skirt. When the closure is pressed onto the container body, the annular bead engages the annular layer of sealing material and some of that material extends into the notch 6. The closure is held on the container only by the partial vacuum formed therein during processing of a food product in the container. After processing, the user opens the container by rotating the closure. Sealing material in the notch forces the closure to lift off from the container to break the seal and release the closure.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2013Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: Crown Packaging Technology, Inc.Inventors: Laura Jane McGirr, Tristan Robert Ellison, Christopher Paul Ramsey

Publication number: 20080089435Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system to enable out of band tracking for digital distribution are disclosed. The method and system include storing an ancillary data block related to a unit of digital data to be distributed, the ancillary data block being stored separately from the unit of digital data to be distributed, obtaining out of band data associated with the unit of digital data to be distributed, injecting into the out of band data information indicative of the ancillary data block to produce modified out of band data, and delivering the unit of digital data to be distributed with the modified out of band data.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2007Publication date: April 17, 2008Inventors: Andres Torrubia, Robert Ellison

Patent number: 7099012Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide an improved spectrometer that measures light emissions and/or reflection from a non-solid material that flows through a system of pipes. This spectrometer is designed to fit into a standard pipe system. The material flows past a distal end of the spectrometer that is inserted in the pipe system. The spectrometer has the ability to project light onto the material and collect a resulting light from the material through the distal end as the material flows past this end.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2003Date of Patent: August 29, 2006Assignee: Turner Designs, Inc.Inventors: James Crawford, David Doting, Robert Ellison, Sang Hoang, Steven Monsef, Frank J. Szczurko, Jr.

Publication number: 20050265193Abstract: A technique to prevent illicit copying of a copy-protected CD-ROM into a computer-readable storage drive is presented. In accordance with the present invention, when an authentic copy-protected CD-ROM is inserted into a CD drive and the content of the copy-protected CD-ROM is installed onto a hard disk drive that is linked to the CD drive, the Central Processor Unit (CPU) executes the installer instructions residing in the CD-ROM to create a license file in the hard disk drive. For security reasons, the content of the CD-ROM (e.g., the executable file of the application) is encrypted. When the content of the CD-ROM is copied into the hard disk drive, it remains encrypted. The license file essentially acts as a timer to monitor a predetermined time interval that has been programmed into the license file.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2005Publication date: December 1, 2005Inventors: Stephen Phillipo, Robert Ellison, Stuart Keeler

Publication number: 20050246284Abstract: A technique to prevent illicit copying of a copy-protected CD or DVD into a computer-readable storage device such as a hard disk drive. When an authentic copy-protected CD or DVD is inserted into a CD or DVD drive and the content of the copy-protected CD or DVD is installed onto a hard disk drive that is linked to the CD/DVD drive, the central processing unit (CPU) associated with the CE/DVD drive and the hard disk drive executes installer instructions residing on the CD/DVD to create a license file in the hard disk drive. For security reasons, the contents of the CD/DVD (e.g. the executable file of the application program, for instance) is encrypted. When the content of the CD/DVD is copied onto the hard disk drive, it remains encrypted. The license file initially acts as a timer in order to monitor a predetermined time interval whether it has been programmed into the license file.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2005Publication date: November 3, 2005Inventors: Stephen Phillipo, Robert Ellison, Stuart Keeler

Patent number: 6705364Abstract: A method and an apparatus for splitting logs which includes a combination of an impact wrench and a conical screw-form wedge. A first step involves providing an impact wrench and a conical screw-form wedge. A second step involves coupling the conical screw-form wedge to the output coupling of the impact wrench. A third step involves placing the apex of the conical screw-form wedge against a log and activating the rotary and reciprocating movement of the impact wrench. The combined rotary and reciprocating movement of the impact wrench drives the conical screw-form wedge into the log. The described combination is a compact, portable and comparatively inexpensive log splitting apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2002Date of Patent: March 16, 2004Inventor: Charles Robert Ellison

Patent number: 4082415Abstract: A novel hologram functioning as a multiple lenslet array of high density in which the lenslets have selected small spacings and relatively long focal lengths is disposed in a holographic data recording system to provide an object beam along a selected axis. Using the holographic lens array, a data hologram may be recorded with improved uniformity between data points, efficiency, hologram illumination, and with minimization of data beam blockage. In preparing the novel hologram, a coherent object beam may be used to define a plurality of sources for simultaneous recording of a plurality of lenslets. The lenslets of a refractive precursor array defined by a commercially available fly's eye lens may be illuminated simultaneously, and selected size, shape, spacing and f- number characteristics for the lenslets may be achieved by concurrent optical transformation of the individual beamlets before recording.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1976Date of Patent: April 4, 1978Assignee: TRW Inc.Inventors: Robert Ellison Brooks, Donald Charles Winter
