    Abstract: A lawn rake includes a tine receiving rake head molded of a plastic material as an integral unit structure and includes a handle receiving portion and at least one tine mounting portion. The handle receiving portion includes a generally centrally located elongated socket portion for receiving therein one end of a handle. The socket portion includes a circumferential groove formed in the wall defining the socket. The groove has a solid wall portion and a slotted wall portion. A spring-like member has a first end connected to the rake head adjacent the tine mounting portion and a second end terminating in partially annular portion. The partially annular portion is adapted to pass through the slotted portion of the groove to be seated within the solid wall portion thereof. A handle is inserted into the socket portion of the rake head for securing the partially annular portion of the spring in the groove.

    Abstract: A spreader for fluent material has a hopper having front, rear, side walls, and a bottom wall connected to the front, rear and side walls. A plurality of discharge openings are formed in the bottom wall and extend therethrough. Each of the discharge openings has a leading end and a trailing end. A guard member is positioned adjacent to and forwardly of the leading end of each discharge opening and extends generally vertically downward from the outer surface of the bottom wall. The guard member extends from the bottom wall within a range of 0.degree.-15.degree. relative to a line defining the vertical axis of the hopper.

    Abstract: A one piece plastic injection molded snow shovel in which the blade, synthetic plastic handle stem and D-top handle are molded in one operation and a finished unit is produced from one cycle of the molding machine. A generally rectangular scoop of synthetic plastic has an integral generally cylindrical hollow handle stem extending centrally outwardly from the rear edge of the scoop. One embodiment has an inwardly reinforced cylindrical stem extending inward of the scoop for several inches from the back edge and then outward for a space normally grasped by a hand of the shoveller. A second embodiment has the handle stem entering from the back of the scoop with a section including an arcuate shell having an arc between about 220.degree.-235.degree. and with a central reinforcing rib diametetrically of the arc. In either case, much of the outwardly extending handle stem consists of upwardly opening arcuate shell between about 220.degree.-235.degree.

    Abstract: There is disclosed herein a battery operated power grass shear wherein a fixed blade and a superimposed laterally oscillating movable blade have forwardly projecting, laterally spaced cutting teeth, the planes of said blades being tilted convergently relative to each other in the forward direction, the teeth of the upper and lower blades contacting each other only at the cutting edges thereof during cutting movements, and each tooth of the movable blade beginning its cutting stroke at a different time in each cutting cycle.
