  • Patent number: 5979567
Abstract: A device for guiding farm equipment is disclosed. This device includes two trench forming chisel type devices attached to the planter or the initial implement used to set up the rows in a row type crop. These trenches are formed generally spaced to match the front wheels of the tractor on its next trip down the field. The tractor is subsequently supplied with a front mounted framework fastened to the front axle of the tractor. This framework supports two trench following lenticular discs capable of supporting a substantial amount of the tractors front weight. These discs may further be formed with a central rib. These trenches may be used in subsequent operations with implements of a smaller size by making the framework adjustable so as to allow the trench following discs to be placed at different widths as well as supplying structure for raising and lowering each guide independently.

  • Patent number: 5517376
Abstract: A disk drive including a disk clamp for clamping one or more disks within the disk drive. The clamp is comprised of a dual member construction which provides a substantially uniform contact pressure at the circular line of contact between the clamp and the disk. The clamp includes an inner ring surrounding and fixedly attached to the hub of the disk drive. The inner ring preferably does not contact the disk. An outer ring is provided having a first portion underneath the inner ring and a second portion provided axially outward from the inner ring. The second portion of the outer ring contacts the disk in a substantially circular line of contact. The inner ring further includes a plurality of threaded holes, through which a plurality of set screws are provided. The screws, when sufficiently threaded through the holes, exert a pressure on the outer ring, which pressure is uniformly transmitted to the disks to secure the disks within the drive.

  • Patent number: 5335909
Abstract: A wood head golf club is described in which the usual hosel is eliminated and provision is made for anchoring the graphite or other shaft within the club head within a rigid sleeve positioned therein, thus eliminating the objectional degree of rigidity imparted by the use of a hosel which extends beyond the clubhead. As a result a greater degree of flex and torque is obtainable from the shaft. The sleeve is preferably formed with an outwardly tapering shoulder which provides a space for cushioning material between shaft and shoulder.

  • Patent number: 5216820
Abstract: A curing unit and method for curing ink and the like on a substrate wherein the curing unit comprises a dual-chambered cover assembly in which is disposed a reflector assembly containing a curing lamp, and means for exhausting air from the chambers of the cover. The reflector assembly includes primary and secondary reflectors that reflect substantially all the radiation emitted along the upper portion of the lamp downward onto the substrate. The lamp is supported within the reflector assembly on upwardly opening supports that do not restrict the expansion or contraction of the lamp, and may be adjusted to adjust the focus of the lamp. The cover assembly includes inner and outer covers that create an outer cooling chamber therebetween, and an inner cooling chamber between the inner cooling chamber and the reflector assembly. The ends of the cover assembly form ducts which communicate with the means for exhausting air from the chambers of the cover.

  • Patent number: 5003902
Abstract: A liquid proof seam construction is provided. A double needle flat-felled seam is constructed having a melt adhesive polymer film disposed within the seam. The seam is then passed through a hot air/pressure device which melts the film and compresses the seam. This forms a liquid, e.g. waterproof, bond between adjacent layers of material and also fills up any area around the stitching formed by needle holes.

  • Patent number: 4115816
Abstract: A continuous-tone image, which can be in full color, is scanned to produce color-separation images in halftone dots. Edges of features in the scanned image are sensed, and the positions and shapes of the halftone dots that define corresponding edges in the halftone reproductions are adjusted so that they conform better to the feature edges. This reduces or eliminates the apparent serrations or roughness of feature edges in the halftone reproductions otherwise caused by misalignment of the halftone dots with the feature edges and improves image definition.

  • Patent number: 4046013
Abstract: For extracting a test sample of fluid from a cable or the like, the present invention provides a combination drill and plug that has cutting means at one end thereof and tapered thread forming or cutting means proximate the other end thereof. When the combination drill and plug is driven forwardly by the apparatus and utilizing the method comprising the present invention, the cutting means thereof removes a mass of material in the form of chips and/or a disk and retains the mass of material so that it does not contaminate the fluid in the cable. After a suitable quantity of fluid is removed from the cable, the combination drill and plug is further advanced so that the thread forming or cutting portion thereof engages the hole formed by the drill portion and forms or cuts threads therein so as to seal the cable and permit its further usage without additional leakage of fluid.
