  • Publication number: 20020118785
Abstract: Clock signals and digital data signals at a variable frequency are introduced to the input of a FIFO and are passed from the FIFO at a second (or intermediate) frequency controlled by a numerically controlled oscillator. To regulate the frequency of the signals from the numerically controlled oscillator, the phases of the clock signals at the variable frequency are compared in a phase detector with the phases of the signals from the numerically controlled oscillator to generate an error signal. The error signals and the signals at a fixed sampling frequency higher than the intermediate frequency regulate the frequency of the signals from the numerically controlled oscillator and thus the frequency of the digital data signals from the FIFO. The digital data signals from the FIFO are converted to a pair of signals at the second frequency.

  • Publication number: 20020039151
Abstract: An electronic, programmable filter is disclosed which selectively removes interference, noise or distortion components from a frequency band without perturbing any of the other signals of the band. An input frequency band such as a television channel spectrum is initially demodulated to baseband and applied to the input of the filter. The baseband spectrum is combined in a complex mixer with a synthesized frequency signal that shifts the spectrum a characteristic amount, in the frequency domain, so as to position an interference component in the region about DC. Once shifted, the frequency components about DC are removed by DC canceler circuit and the resulting spectrum is mixed with a subsequent synthesized frequency signal which shifts the spectrum back to its original representation and baseband. The frequency signals are developed by a programmable frequency synthesizer which a user may program with an intelligence signal that defines the frequency location of an interference signal within the spectrum.

  • Publication number: 20010039622
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for enforcing file access control among client devices using multiple diverse access control models and multiple diverse file server protocols. A multi-protocol file server identifies each file with one particular access control model out of a plurality of possible models, and enforces that one particular model for all accesses to that file. When the file server receives a file server request for that file using a different access control model, the file server translates the access control limits for that file into no-less-restrictive limits in the different model. The file server restricts access by the client device using the translated access control limits. Each file is assigned the access control model of the user who created the file or who last set access control limits for the file. When a user having a different access control model sets access control limits, the access control model for the file is changed to the new model.

  • Patent number: 6199061
Abstract: A on-line help module provides a method and apparatus for the presenting of recognizable topic titles to a user in response to receiving a query. The system receives a query from a user and analyzes the query with a word breaking routine so to obtain a list of keyword terms that are substantively representative of the query. Based on the list of keyword terms, certain links are located in a database that serve to link the keyword terms to relevant topic titles. A link list is formed of all the relevant links and sorted. The links also include specific substitution information associated with them for application to the associated topic title. A substitution list is formed containing all the substitution information from the various links that were located. From the substitution list, all conflicts among the substitution information are removed and, thereafter, the substitutions are performed on the topic titles in accordance with the substitution information and presented to the user.
