  • Patent number: 8233926
Abstract: A system and method is proposed for adapting the spatial transmission strategy in a cellular MIMO (multiple input multiple output) communication system for the downlink. Spatial mode adaptation, the choice of multiplexing, transmit diversity, number of streams, space-time code family, and the like are performed slowly based on side information from other base stations. Base stations exchange their transmission plans with neighboring base stations and broadcast this information to active users. Each user measures its susceptibility to spatial interference and returns this information to the base station. The base station then schedules active users according to the decisions made in interfering base stations and the preferred transmission strategies of its own users.

  • Patent number: 8217835
Abstract: A base station is capable of transmitting a signal in a wireless communication network. The base station decides channel state information matrices of respective channels by determining a state of the channels corresponding to respective transmission antennas. The base station calculates transmission beam forming vectors for the respective transmission antennas by a combination of a dot product and a cross product of the channel state information matrices. Thereafter, the base station beam-forms signals for the respective transmission antennas by using the respective transmission beam forming vectors, and transmitting the beam-formed signals.

  • Patent number: 8204142
Abstract: A precoder and a precoding method in a multiuser multi-antenna system are provided. The precoder includes a channel checker for determining a DownLink (DL) channel condition of terminals in a service coverage area, a pre-compensator for pre-compensating, for channel distortion, signals to be sent to the terminals when a nonlinear algorithm is selected based on the channel condition of the terminals, and an interference remover for canceling interference in a channel by multiplying the pre-compensated signals by inverse channels of the terminals, and for canceling interference between the terminals. Accordingly, the pre-equalization can be carried out without global channel state information, and an increase of the transmit power can be prevented in the permutation.

  • Publication number: 20090046503
Abstract: A memory cell for use in an integrated circuit comprises a read transistor and a gated diode. The read transistor has a source terminal. The gated diode has a gate terminal in signal communication with the read transistor. A variable source voltage acts on the source terminal of the read transistor when the memory cell is in operation. The variable source voltage is temporarily altered when the memory cell is read. For example, the source voltage may be reduced when the read transistor is implemented using an N-type transistor and increased when the read transistor is implemented using P-type transistor. This acts to impart the memory cell with faster read speed, higher read margin, and lower standby current.
