  • Publication number: 20240115446
Abstract: A remotely deployed, inflatable device designed to reduce or eliminate falls in senior living and assisted care facilities. Upon detecting undesired movement, nurses may deploy one or more inflatable cylinders, thereby inflating the device under one or both sides of the mattress, creating a barrier that prevents the resident from exiting the bed until on-site assistance arrives. It is envisioned that initially the operation of the device will rely on the remote monitoring of residents by one or more operators via live camera feeds. In more advanced versions it is envisioned that software and artificial intelligence will be able to use one or more camera feeds and will be able to supplement or even replace the need for a person to monitor any camera feeds.

  • Patent number: 6902042
Abstract: An automatic application hand brake mechanism is provided for automatically applying at least one brake member secured to a railway vehicle with the hand brake assembly. The mechanism comprises an operating member having at least one ratchet engageable with at least one gear of the hand brake assembly for operating the gear assembly in a direction which will cause an application of the at least one brake member. The apparatus also includes an application cylinder and a drive arm extending from an end thereof having a first portion which is connected to the operating member. The drive arm is capable of reciprocating with respect to the application cylinder upon the application of a force thereto to supply a predetermined pressure to the operating member to cause an automatic application of the at least one brake member.

  • Patent number: 6789855
Abstract: An automatic application hand brake apparatus is provided for automatically applying at least one brake member secured to a railway vehicle with the hand brake assembly. The apparatus comprises an operating member having at least one ratchet attached to a drive shaft of said hand brake assembly. An application cylinder is connected to a drive arm pivotally attached to the drive shaft and containing and operating pawl engaging the operating ratchet. The reciprocating motion of the drive arm caused by the application cylinder enables reciprocal rotation of the operating arm and furthermore causing application of at least one brake member. A plurality of control valves are connected to the source of the fluid pressure for initiating and regulating the supply of fluid pressure to the application cylinder and for stopping an automatic application of such hand brake in case of the emergency or a reversal of the unintended activation.

  • Patent number: 6709068
Abstract: An apparatus comprising an operating mechanism having at least a portion thereof engageable with at least one gear of a gear assembly disposed in a housing member of a hand brake assembly for operating such gear assembly. A source of fluid pressure is connected to the operating mechanism for periodically supplying a pressure to such operating mechanism. A control device is connected to the source of pressure for initiating the supply of such pressure to the operating mechanism. A further control device is connected to the source of pressure for regulating the supply of such pressure to the operating mechanism thereby causing an automatic application of such brake by the hand brake assembly. An additional control device is connected to the source of pressure for stopping an automatic application of such brake in case of an emergency or a reversal of an unintended activation.

  • Publication number: 20030034689
Abstract: The present invention is predicated upon the use of an apparatus that is engageable with a hand brake assembly which will automatically apply at least one brake means secured to a railway vehicle with such hand brake assembly. The apparatus of the invention comprises an operating means having at least a portion thereof engageable with at least one gear of a gear assembly disposed in a housing member of the hand brake assembly for operating such gear assembly. A source of fluid pressure is connected to operating means for periodically supplying a predetermined pressure to such operating means. A control means is connected to the source of the fluid pressure for initiating the supply of such predetermined pressure to the operating means. A further control means is connected to the source of the fluid pressure for regulating the supply of such predetermined pressure to the operating means thereby causing an automatic application of such brake means by the hand brake assembly.

  • Publication number: 20030028404
Abstract: An insurance claim processing system and method which provides a plurality of prime movers such as insurers, intermediates, and risk managers and a plurality of suppliers including claim service providers, other professionals and vendors with the ability to simultaneously access, modify, and enhance a claim file remotely over a communications network. The claim processing system allows prime movers to select, interact with, assign tasks to, monitor, and evaluate claim service suppliers. As selected suppliers completed their assigned tasks, the suppliers are able to electronically attach electronic report documents to the claim file. Once all the tasks are completed, the prime mover associated with the claim file is notified and reviews the progress of the claim. Any additional tasks can be assigned and the claim adjustment can be completed.

  • Patent number: 6435962
Abstract: A vent register for controlling the flow of air from a heating and cooling duct system. The register includes a rack and pinion operating mechanism for controlling the movement of the damper louvers. The louvers are molded with an integral pinion gear and rotatably mounted within a rectangular housing. A slidably movable lever having a lineal rack of teeth is disposed within the housing. A portion of the lever protrudes above the face of the register for manipulation by the user and the rack of teeth engage the pinion gears of the louvers. The linear adjustment of the lever within the housing is translated to rotational adjustment of the louvers by the rack and pinion operating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4938522
Abstract: A protective cover snugly fits over an automobile having a cleaned polished surface and protects same while the automobile is in the open. The cover includes flared side panels, a bumper panel, hood panel, windshield panel, roof panel, rear window panel and tail panel all connected together by seams and closely fitting the corresponding surfaces of the automobile. In particular the seams are non-coincident with corners of the automobile so that stress on the seams is avoided. Also, the cover has a flap in one side panel, especially on the driver's side which can be opened to permit access to the automobile, in such case windows are included in the cover so that the automobile can be operated with the cover fitted thereon. The cover particularly has a water-proof outer layer and an air permeable, polishing inner layer.

  • Patent number: 4071095
Abstract: A reef winning machine comprises a frame on which is mounted a saddle. The saddle carries a boom on which is mounted a drill. The saddle also carries a member on which is carried a mechanical rock splitter. The drill and rock splitter operate simultaneously, the latter acting in a hole that had previously been drilled by the rock drill. A jack moves the saddle along the frame in steps that are the same as the distance between the drill and rock splitter. An impact breaker may be used instead of a rock splitter.
