  • Publication number: 20150352310
Abstract: A wye connector has a patient coupling end. The patient coupling end has a first connector surface and a second connector surface. The first connector surface has a first diameter at an axial location along the patient coupling end. The second connector surface has a second diameter at the same axial location along the patient coupling end. The first diameter is larger than the second diameter. The second connector surface projects axially outward beyond the first connector surface.

  • Publication number: 20130220326
Abstract: This invention relates to a breath indicator that is receivable by a part of a breathing assistance apparatus that supplies gas to a patient. The indicator comprises an elongate body having a gas sampling end and an attachment end. The attachment end is adapted to attach to a part of a breathing assistance apparatus and for locating the gas sampling end. The gas sampling end is to be located in a region where gas from the patient is to be exhaled. The gas sampling end being in communication with a sensor comprising a detector material changeable between a first visual indicator state relating to an inhalation phase of the patient, and a second visual indicator state relating to an exhalation phase of the patient. The detector material is capable of changing between the visual indicator states at a sufficient rate to substantially correspond with the inhalation and exhalation phases of the patient.

  • Patent number: 6027304
Abstract: The high pressure inlet bleed heat system includes a plurality of tubes which receive heated compressed air from the compressor extraction discharge manifold. The tubes extend into the inlet duct of the compressor, are uniformly spaced one from the other and have a uniform distribution of laterally opening apertures along their lengths in registration with the apertures of next laterally adjacent tubes. The tubes are located downstream of the silencer baffles. By providing choked flow through the apertures and lateral registration of the apertures of adjacent tubes, complete mixing of the heated air with the inlet air vortices behind the silencer baffles is achieved, affording a uniform temperature distribution across the inlet duct with minimum pressure loss. The tubes are constructed to accommodate thermal expansion of the manifold receiving compressor discharge air, the manifold also being supported to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction.

  • Patent number: 4884925
Abstract: An apparatus for the transfer of a dry chemical is formed having a sealed solvation hopper positioned between a liquid driven eductor and a fitting for connection to a storage container, e.g. a railcar. At the inlet end of the solvation hopper is a chemical inlet pipe which connects the interior to the exterior of the hopper. Surrounding the chemical inlet pipe are a plurality of nozzles for the introduction of solvation liquid into the hopper. The nozzles are disposed such that the solvation liquid washes the interior surface of the hopper to prevent plugging by hydrates (solvates) which may be formed. At the outlet end of the hopper, the hopper is connected to the suction opening of a liquid eductor. In use, the exterior end of the chemical inlet pipe is connected to the dry chemical storage container. Liquid flowing through the liquid eductor creates a suction and draws dry chemical out of the storage container and into the hopper.

  • Patent number: 4203731
Abstract: A gas making retort includes a substantially upright mixing chamber opening into a first horizontal refractory cylinder which encloses a second horizontal refractory cylinder. The second cylinder encloses two centrally positioned refractory circular gas out take tubes directly opposite to each other. Each of the cylinders has a cylindrical passageway for the introduction of a mixture of air, steam and a carbonaceous material from the mixing chamber into a gas making space defined between the internal ends of the gas out take tubes wherein a partial combustion of the mixture takes place.
