  • Publication number: 20090031284
Abstract: A system and method of creating and communicating with wireless component applications is provided. Mobile communication devices communicate with a web service via a wireless network, the Internet, and optionally a message-map service. Each wireless component application is executed by a component framework on one of the mobile communication devices, and comprises data components, presentation components, message components, and workflow components. The component framework executes the component application in an application container which provides access to framework services which include a communication service, a screen service, a persistence service, an access service, a provisioning service, and a utility service. Messages can be sent from the component application to the message-map service, which converts each of the messages to a format required by the web service using an application message-map, and then sends the message to the web service.

  • Patent number: 7419080
Abstract: A medical device includes a surgical end effector, an end effector control handle, and a control shaft having a longitudinal axis and a handle portion connecting the control shaft to the control handle rotatably about the longitudinal axis. A passive articulation joint connects the end effector to the control shaft. An articulation joint release unlocks the articulation joint when actuated and locks the articulation joint when unactuated. An end effector control device is rotationally fixedly connected to at least a portion of the control shaft to correspondingly rotate the control shaft about the longitudinal axis when the control device is rotated and is longitudinally connected to the joint release to selectively unlock the articulation joint when actuated.

  • Patent number: 7404508
Abstract: A medical device includes a control handle, an end effector, and a passive articulating joint connecting the end effector to the handle. The handle has a stapling actuator, an articulation joint actuator different from the stapling actuator, and a body through which the stapling and articulation joint actuators traverse. The end effector has an anvil, a stapler cartridge with staples, and an anvil-cartridge control device connected thereto and to the stapling actuator and staples when the stapling actuator is actuated. The stapling actuator passes through the articulating joint and flexes correspondingly to articulation of the articulating joint. The articulation joint actuator, when unactuated, holds the articulation joint and, thereby, the end effector, in a substantially fixed articulation position, and, when actuated, releases the articulation joint into its freely articulating state to permit free articulation of the end effector dependent upon external forces acting upon the end effector.

The staple body has a bridge and two legs extending from the bridge at an angle thereto. Each of the legs has a base end integral with the bridge and a deformable distal end defining a stapling point shaped to pierce material to be stapled. The compression device is at least partly disposed between the legs and has a bias portion with a compression surface movably disposed between the legs and a compression resistor connected to the bridge and to the compression surface and formed to resist movement of the compression surface towards the bridge with a force.

  • Publication number: 20070100735
Abstract: An automated trader facilitates automatic trading of tradeable objects over one or more electronic exchanges. According to one embodiment, an automated trader utilizes a user programmable interface. The user programmable interface allows the user to simply develop a program that is based on a set of specifications and relationships given by the user and input into a profile, or if desired, input directly into the programmable interface referred to as direct entry. For each tradeable object, a profile may be selected, and then an automated trader can execute the program to perform a series of actions according to that selected profile and directed order entry, if any. An automated trader may also be used at a communication level to create an intelligent interface between third-party trading-related applications and exchanges.

  • Publication number: 20060085320
Abstract: System, method, and program products offer flexibility to the rather rigid way of trading in an electronic trading system. Orders for a tradeable object may typically get matched according to set terms and/or conditions at an electronic exchange. A trader may log onto the electronic exchange to trade the tradeable object, and may choose to display and trade the tradeable object according to a different set of terms and/or conditions. As such, the market data sent to the trader from the exchange is converted to a format according to the trader's selection, so that it may be presented to the trader in this format. Transaction messages sent to the exchange from the trader are converted to the format readable by the matching process, so that it can process the messages. Other features and advantages are described herein.

  • Patent number: 6886960
Abstract: A switch as for a flashlight selectively connects, for example, a solid state light source and a battery in the flashlight in circuit for causing the solid state light source to produce light. The switch comprises a pushbutton and a metal contact having a periphery that selectively contacts a housing, and a spring. Pressing the pushbutton moves the pushbutton and the metal contact to contact the housing. The metal contact may include a feature for centering the metal contact with respect to the pushbutton and thus with respect to the housing end. The switch may be disposed in a tail cap attached to a flashlight housing.

  • Publication number: 20050080520
Abstract: This innovative technology involves stationary as well as, portable application in the form of a waste material recovery and conversion center/power plant, which is termed The Recovery Center. It has been created to replace the traditional unsanitary trash transfer station and its final repository the landfill and or city dump. The invention is ecologically friendly, reduces the nation's dependency on oil, and is politically acceptable and publicly embraced as a good neighbor business for any community. The process taught separates wet waste from dry waste and recyclables during the collection process and at the center via smart routing of refuse vehicles and progressive plant automation. One big advantage is that the same vehicle is used for most all the waste and recyclable tonnage in a single area.
