  • Patent number: 7690088
Abstract: A magnetic clasp for an article of jewelry is provided. The clasp includes a pair of mating male and female members, an alignment groove on one member, and associated alignment projection on the other member and a safety catch. The pair of mating male and female members are arranged to be magnetically coupled to each other. The safety catch is arranged to be moved to a locked position to mechanically releasably secure the male and female members together when they are aligned. The alignment groove is shaped to facilitate and guide the projection into it when the two members are magnetically coupled and appropriately aligned so that the safety catch can be moved to the closed position to thereby releasably lock the members together.

  • Patent number: 6126010
Abstract: A combination pill dispenser and collapsible drinking cup unit. The unit includes an elongated hollow body, a first removable cap member, a second removable cap member, a pill organizer, and a collapsible cup. The hollow body has an outer wall including opposed first and second ends and an end wall located adjacent the first forming a hollow chamber in which the pill organizer is located. A first removable cap is provided to close the chamber in which the organizer is located. The organizer includes a plurality of wedge-shaped compartments formed by plural wall panels radiating outward from a central post. The post projects upward from a circular, planar base member. A circular, planar cover is rotatably mounted on the post and includes a wedge shaped opening in its periphery. The opening is arranged to selectively communicate with a respective one of the compartments when the cover is rotated to a desired orientation.

  • Patent number: 6032996
Abstract: A combination zipper pull, button fastener or pull, and bracelet fastener. The device basically comprises an elongated body having a zipper-grasping or bracelet-grasping clip (e.g., an alligator type clip having openable jaws) at one end and an elongated button-grasping hook at the other end of the body. The body is formed of plural, e.g., six, telescoping sections which can be extended with respect to one another from a compact, short length, state to an extended, long length, e.g., approximately twenty-inches, state. The clip is mounted on the free end of the innermost section of the extendable telescoping body and can be rotated to any position about the central longitudinal axis of the device. The clip is arranged to be operated to releasably grasp a portion of a zipper or a portion of a bracelet between its jaws. The tips of the jaws are covered with a removable protective covering, e.g., some soft plastic, rubber, etc., to protect the zipper or bracelet portion.

  • Patent number: 5743113
Abstract: A protector for use with a conventional pierced earring having a post. The protector is arranged for disposition within an opening extending through the earlobe of a person. The protector comprises a clutch member and a tubular flanged member. The clutch member has a hypoallergenic, e.g., titanium, flanged front portion, a rear portion, and a central passageway extending through it. Plural projections are mounted on spring fingers to extend into the central passageway of the clutch member. The tubular flanged member is formed of a hypoallergenic material, e.g., titanium, and has a flanged front portion and an elongated rear portion. The elongated rear portion has a free end having a pair of annular recesses extending thereabout.

  • Patent number: 5165258
Abstract: A cushion for securement to a clip of a clip-on earring having a decorative portion including a rear surface a clip secured thereto. The clip comprises a loop which is arranged to engage the rear of a wearer's earlobe while the rear surface of said decorative portion of said earring engages the front of said earlobe to sandwich the earlobe therebetween. The cushion comprises a disk of resilient material, e.g., silicone rubber, having a top wall, a bottom wall, a circular outer side wall having an annular groove extending about its periphery, and a central opening extending through said disk. The cushion is inserted within the loop of the clip so that the loop is disposed within the cushion's annular groove. The top wall of the cushion is convex and the central opening is small to provide a relatively large area to engage the rear surface of the earlobe and thereby spread out the force applied to the earlobe by the clip.

  • Patent number: 5035123
Abstract: An earring pad and method of making it. The pad is arranged for releasable securement to a portion of a clip-on earring and comprises a base member, a barrier member, and a foam member. The base member and barrier member are each formed of a planar, relatively flexible, plastic, having outer and inner surfaces bounded by a peripheral edge. The foam member has a peripheral edge configuration corresponding to that of the barrier member. The foam member is disposed over the outer surface of the barrier member and they are heat sealed together along their entire peripheral edges. The base member is disposed over the inner surface of the barrier member and it is heat sealed to the barrier member along only a portion its peripheral edge to form a hollow pocket having an open mouth to receive the portion of the clip-on earring.
