  • Publication number: 20240117921
Abstract: A device for propping up an object, in particular, a long-handled object. The device includes a V-shaped leg apparatus having a pair of legs that are spaced apart from one another but may be compressed towards one another. Leg holder attaches to the long-handled object and the two legs pass through openings formed through the leg holder. A latch is attached to the long-handled object beneath the leg holder, and a slider is selectively movable along the lengths of the two legs and when moved towards the leg holder causes the legs to spread apart and spring outwardly away from the long-handled object, and when moved towards the latch, cause the legs to be brought together and extend parallel to and adjacent the long-handled object. The slider engages with the latch to lock the device in its propping position.

  • Patent number: 11921218
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to enable an electronic system for use in connection with navigating a marine vessel to a desired position with respect to a waterline boundary. The system has one or potentially more light detection ranging (LIDAR) sensors for detecting structures across a region by vertically scanning the region using the LIDAR sensors. The system also includes a memory element configured to store characteristics of the detected structure. Additionally, the system includes a processing element that can identify a primary reference point associated with navigation of the marine vessel to the desired position based on the characteristics of the detected structure and display information about a current position of the marine vessel in relation to the desired position.

  • Patent number: 11892580
Abstract: The thickness of subsurface layers if they had remained as they were prior to compaction may be estimated by restoring the volume of void space lost during compaction. Decompacted depths below seafloor, the depths the layers would be if compaction had not occurred, may be determined for the layers. A surrogate decompaction velocity may then be determined by dividing the decompacted depths by the travel times of acoustic waves that reflect off layers within the subsurface region. The decompaction velocity may be used in post-processing of acoustic data to produce a decompacted digital representation of the subsurface region. The decompacted digital representation may be used to directly interpret the thickness of layers prior to compaction, sedimentation rates over time, fault offsets, and other phenomena distorted by compaction.

  • Publication number: 20240023000
Abstract: A wireless telecommunication system is described that denies wireless telecommunication service to a wireless terminal in a proscribed area (e.g., prison, military installation, academic testing center, school, etc.). The system comprises an adjunct called a “service sentry.” The service sentry uses measurements of the location-dependent traits of the radio signals transmitted to, and received from, each wireless terminal in its purview to generate an estimate of the location of the wireless terminal. When the service sentry estimates that the wireless terminal has entered the proscribed area, it requests that the wireless switching center that services the proscribed area deny service to the wireless terminal. When the service sentry estimates that the wireless terminal has exited the proscribed area, it requests that the wireless switching center that services the proscribed area provide service to the wireless terminal.

  • Publication number: 20230356060
Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing a system for determining the range to a target object. In implementations, a system for determining a range estimate to a target includes a rangefinder, a camera, a display and at least one processor. A processor may acquire an image from the camera, identify a target flagstick within the image acquired from the camera and modify pixels proximate to the identified target flagstick of the image to generate a modified image contrasting the target flagstick from objects in the background. The processor may calculate a range estimate to the target flagstick using the rangefinder and present, on the display, the modified image and a representation of the range estimate of the target flagstick.

  • Patent number: 11765549
Abstract: A method for performing contact tracing. An analysis system performing the method receives geo-temporal data comprising location data points for various wireless terminals, including the wireless terminals being used by people diagnosed as having a specified disease and the wireless terminals of others, one of whom having possibly infected those diagnosed with the disease. Based on filtering the geo-temporal data, the analysis system generates relatively-condensed mobility profiles that are representative of each person's locations and movements, and analyzes the mobility profiles. Through careful selections of various parameters based on the disease that is being analyzed, the mobility profiles are used instead of the relatively large amounts of geo-temporal data, to represent users of wireless terminals and to determine their interactions in regard to disease transmission.

  • Patent number: 11745082
Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing a system for determining the range to a target object and orienting a map. In implementations, GPS data is used to determine the location of the system and an approximate distance from that location to the target. Based on the approximate distance, one or more parameters of operation of the system may be set. Modes of operation may be entered to further adjust parameters of operation. An optical pulse may then be projected at the target and its reflections collected and analyzed to calculate a distance measurement. A visual display may be adjusted based on the calculated distance estimate to the target.
