  • Patent number: 7888597
Abstract: A fixture box for a light fixture or the like is disclosed. An input port accessible from the exterior of the housing is provided to receive and terminate an incoming electrical power source cable. An output port accessible from the exterior of the housing is also provided to provide electrical power to another fixture. A light fixture port accessible from the interior of the housing provides an electrical connection between the incoming power and the light fixture. Enclosed hot, neutral and ground buss portions are provided to make electrical connections and provide electrical power between the input port to the output port and to the fixture port. The fixture box also lowers labor costs due to the quick termination of the Q-CEB to the snap in connection at the ports.

  • Patent number: 7804026
Abstract: An enclosure for wiring devices such as switches and receptacles is provided. A housing member has a main front chamber, a main rear chamber and a central dividing wall separating the front chamber from the rear chamber. The housing has an open front leading to the front chamber. The rear chamber is divided into a plurality of electrical feed ports through which electrical power is provided to and may be taken from the enclosure. The feed ports each have an open back providing access to the ports but not to the main front chamber. A front plate member sized to completely cover and seal the open front of said front chamber is permanently attached to the housing to make a fully enclosed factory sealed enclosure in the front chamber. The front chamber contains a wiring device. Hot, neutral and ground busses extend between and interconnect the feed ports. These busses have segments extending through the dividing wall and connected to a wiring device.

The fixture box provides greater safety to the end user or homeowner because the bussing of the fixture box is completely enclosed. The fixture box also lowers labor costs due to the quick termination of the Q-CEB to the snap in connection at the ports.

  • Patent number: 7637185
Abstract: A plier tool for closing clam shell type electrical connectors onto electrical wires includes a pair of handles, an upper jaw and a lower jaw. The upper jaw and the lower jaw are movable between an open position and a closed position. The jaws move relatively closer together during a closing operation upon squeezing together of the handles. An upper die member having a pivotal connection point is pivotally attached to the upper jaw for pivotal movement during the closing operation. The upper die member also has a generally planar upper contact surface. The upper contact surface is adapted to continuously contact and slide upon a lid portion of a clam shell type electrical connector during the closing operation. A lower die member is rigidly attached to said lower jaw and has a lower contact surface. The lower contact surface has a cavity therein sized to receive and retain a base portion of clam shell type electrical connector during the closing operation.

  • Patent number: 7527518
Abstract: A contact device for insulated solid conductors of an insulation displacement connector of the type utilized to make electrical connections with an unstripped end of a multi-conductor cable having an outer sheath enclosing a ground wire and at least two insulated solid wire conductors is disclosed. A first blade portion has a front contact portion, a first blade middle portion and a first blade rear receiving end. A second blade portion has a front angled blade portion, a second blade middle portion and a second blade rear receiving end. A bridge portion connects the first blade to the second blade and secures the second blade portion in a spaced apart relationship with respect to the first blade portion. With this arrangement when the contact device is pushed into a multi-conductor cable, the first contact portion is in electrical contact with a first side of a solid wire conductor and the front angled portion is in electrical contact with a second side of the solid wire conductor.

  • Publication number: 20080308291
Abstract: A safety filler plug for recessed electrical contacts is provided. The plug includes a pair of spaced apart generally rectangular arm members including a first stationary arm member and a second tab arm member. The first arm member and the second arm member each have an insertion end, an extension end and a middle portion between the insertion end and said extension end. A generally rectangular horizontal barrier member extends between and bridges the middle portions of arm members. The barrier member has an interior surface and exterior surface. A cross bar support member extends between and has cross bar end portions connected to the insertion ends of the arms. A generally triangular brace member having a first side portion connected to the first arm member and a second side portion connected to said exterior surface of said barrier member is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7281941
Abstract: A stripping and contact device for an insulation displacement connector is provided. The device has a body which has a cavity therein sized to receive an unstripped end of insulated electrical cable. A lid is pivotally connected to a body and moves around an axis of rotation between and open position and a closed position. Plural metallic contact plates, including a hot contact plate, a neutral contact plate, and at least one ground contact plate, are spaced apart and attached to the lid. When the lid is in open position the contact plates do not extend within said cavity and when the lid in a closed position the contact plates do extend within said cavity. A pair of insulating wedges is provided. A first wedge is juxtaposed between said hot contact plate and a ground contact plate. A second wedge is juxtaposed between a ground contact plate and a neutral contact plate. Angled surfaces on the wedges perform multiple functions during a closing operation of the device.

  • Patent number: 7204696
Abstract: This duplex receptacle will be factory installed in its own enclosure and sealed to provide safety and quick mounting. Both outlets can be constantly powered or one of the outlets can be wired for constant power and the other outlet controlled by a switch. Both applications can be performed by the internal bussing of the duplex receptacle and a cam within the receptacle housing. At installation, the installer will set the cam on the back of the receptacle according to the application desired.

  • Patent number: 7144269
Abstract: An electrical connector provides an electrical connection to an unstripped end of an insulated electrical cable of the type having an outer sheath within which an insulated hot wire, an insulated neutral wire, and a ground wire are enclosed. The connector has a body formed of an electrically insulating material and a cavity in a first body end sized to receive an unstripped end of the cable. A lid is pivotally connected to the body which is adapted to rotate around an axis of rotation between and open position and a closed position. A hot blade conductor, a neutral blade conductor, and at least one ground blade conductor are positioned in the lid. The blade conductors each have at least one downwardly depending blade and an outlet portion. The blades conductors are spaced apart. When the lid is in open position, the blades do not extend within said cavity. When the lid in a closed, the blades do extend within the cavity and make an electrical connection with the hot, neutral and ground wires of the cable.

  • Patent number: 5975938
Abstract: An electrical connector is provided which has a body having a opening therein sized to receive an unstripped end of insulated electrical cable of the type having at least two individually insulated conductors which are encased in an outer sheath. A pair of arm members are pivotally connected opposite sides of the body which are adapted to rotate between and open position and a closed position. A pair of electrically conducting blade members are attached to said arm members. When the arm members are in an open position the blade members do not extend within said cavity and when the blade members are in a closed position said blade members do extend within said cavity. An electrical output is located on the body and electrical pathway provides an electrical connection between said blade members and the electrical output.

  • Patent number: 5785551
Abstract: An electrical box is pre-wired with a duplex receptacle, a light switch, a junction or the like. The box has a number of connectors, each having electrical contacts. The connectors receive complementary plugs having terminals which make an electrical connection between the pre-wired box and the conductors of the electrical cable. The plug is attached to an unstripped end of an electrical cable, preferably by crimping to engage through the sheathing and conductor insulation. The connectors are pre-wired for a range of functions and are labeled with indica symbolizing the function assigned to the connector. During construction, preferably prior to installation of a wall panel, electrical cables are run from a power source to locations designated to receive an electrical box. A hole is made in the wall and the previously installed cable is located and pulled out through the hole.
