  • Patent number: 11960389
Abstract: A computer-implemented method according to one embodiment includes identifying, in a multi-component system, a first component with an unknown software version and/or unknown firmware version. A plurality of predetermined compatibility tests are implemented on the first component and results of the plurality of compatibility tests are recorded in a predetermined database of records shared amongst the multi-component system. A record associated with the first component indicates a compatibility of the unknown software version and/or unknown firmware version with the multi-component system. In response to a determination that the record indicates that the unknown software version and/or unknown firmware version is compatible with the multi-component system, data processing is performed between the first component and a second component.

  • Publication number: 20240087142
Abstract: A method of tracking a user's toothcare activity comprises receiving video images of a user's face during, e.g. a toothbrushing session, and identifying, in each of a plurality of frames of the video images, predetermined features of the user's face. The features include at least two invariant landmarks associated with the user's face and one or more landmarks selected from at least mouth feature positions and eye feature positions. Predetermined marker features of a toothcare appliance, e.g. a brush in use are identified in each of the plurality of frames of the video images. From the at least two invariant landmarks associated with the user's nose, a measure of inter-landmark distance is determined. An appliance length normalised by the inter-landmark distance is determined. From the one or more landmarks selected from at least mouth feature positions and eye feature positions, one or more appliance-to-facial feature distances each normalised by the inter-landmark distance is determined.

  • Patent number: 11858231
Abstract: A process of manipulating a closable carton with lid panels extending from walls of the carton and tabs received in slots formed in the lid panels to secure the lid panels to close the carton. The process has a step of moving a folding element transverse to each wall from which a lid extends to move the one or more lids into a position which closes the carton. The process has a step of lifting the closed carton past a non-return support and into engagement with another carton to provide a stack of closed cartons supported by the non-return support. The process has a step of the support then releasing a stack of closed cartons to a conveyor.

  • Publication number: 20220104612
Abstract: A method of identifying a toothbrush user from among a plurality of different toothbrush users comprises obtaining data indicative of toothbrush motion relative to at least two axes of the toothbrush and filtering the motion data to extract motion data over a predetermined frequency range, such as within a predetermined frequency passband. A motion component distribution of the filtered motion data is determined, and the motion component distribution is compared with a plurality of user-specific motion component distributions to establish the data as indicative of one of said plurality of users. Toothbrushing data captured by a multi-user toothbrush motion tracking system can thereby be ascribed to a correct user within a cohort of users of the system.

  • Patent number: 11292399
Abstract: A carrier device includes a base plate fixedly attachable to a window pane and a carrying arrangement, for holding a housing of a sensor device, that includes a clip element configured for retaining a rod-shaped component disposed at an end of the housing. The clip element is formed by two legs extending from the base plate. The ends of the legs remote from the base plate define an entry region for the rod-shaped component that is adjoined, in a direction toward the base plate, by a receiving space which is laterally bounded by concavely shaped receiving contours formed in the two legs in this region. The base plate has a counter-bearing disposed thereon which has a concavely shaped support region for supporting the rod-shaped component. The counter-bearing is located on a side of the clip element adjacent the housing when the sensor device is in a mounted position.

  • Patent number: 9945668
Abstract: Provided are methods and products for rapid, reliable, and accurate monitoring and detecting of convergence in mining and civil engineering applications. A sensor, such as a scanning laser device, is moved through a tunnel, either automatically, autonomously, or with manual guidance. The sensor is configured to acquire 3D point clouds of all or a portion of a tunnel, at selected times. The 3D point cloud data is used to compute a set of indicators, which are local descriptors of the environment along the tunnel. The indicators are then amalgamated to estimate the probability that convergence has occurred in a given region. In one embodiment, the indicators are fused together using a Bayes network.

  • Patent number: 9831922
Abstract: A system for determining tread wear of a tire includes a first wireless communication chip located at an inner surface of the tire and a second wireless communication chip located at an outer surface of the tire. The second chip resides in a slot extending through a housing located in a groove in a tread of the tire. The second chip moves in the slot toward the bottom of the groove in response to the tread wear. Methodology entails transmitting a first signal from a first chip, receiving the first signal at the second chip, transmitting a second signal from the second chip in response to receipt of the first signal, receiving the second signal at the first chip, computing a time delay between transmission of the first signal and receipt of the second signal, and determining tread wear of the tire in response to the time delay.
