Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to estimate demographics of users employing social media. An example method disclosed herein includes (1) identifying a social media message regarding an asset, the social media message associated with a user identifier associated with the user, (2) determining demographics associated with a group of people exposed to the asset, (3) associating the user identifier with the asset, and (4) repeating (1) to (3). The example method also includes (5) combining demographics associated with two or more different groups of people with which the user identifier is associated to estimate a demographic profile for the user.

  • Patent number: 5790515
Abstract: A communication system receiver sorts through potential Walsh indexes and determines survivors for use in subsequent processing. The sort process is implemented in parallel with the subsequent processing so that large amounts of memory to implement a store/sort are eliminated. The communication system receiver implements the sorting operation in a small number of cycles, thereby conserving cycles which could be beneficially utilized for other tasks as required. The sorting operation also lends itself well to a practical implementation from a communication system receiver design perspective.

  • Patent number: 5784293
Abstract: A receiver (100) employs an apparatus (109) and method (500) for determining transmitted modulation symbols contained in a received communication signal (127). Each of a plurality of memory locations (201-208) is loaded (503) with a binary representation (120) of a corresponding portion of the received communication signal (127). At least three of the binary representations (120) are transformed (505) in parallel into signed magnitudes (121) that correspond to the received modulation symbols. The magnitudes (121) are then used (507, 509) in the search and demodulation process (113) to recover the originally transmitted modulation symbols.

  • Patent number: 5615226
Abstract: A method and receiver for demodulating a DS/CDMA signal increases a receiver's (60) sensitivity and as a result the system capacity of a DS/CDMA cellular communications system. A Reduced State Sequence Estimator (RSSE) (68) finds a path (210) with the highest energy. An efficient method and apparatus for determining the path energies (212) selects a new path (210) to differ from a previous path (210) by a single reduced state (200). A difference (306) between an I and Q magnitude of the new and omitted reduced state (200) is computed (304). This difference is added to the previous path's total I (308) and Q magnitude, to compute the new path's I and Q magnitude. These I and Q magnitudes are used to compute a path energy (322) and the highest path's energy (326) is used to select the best path for decoding (70).

  • Patent number: 5530716
Abstract: A receiver (900) employs a method (1100) for identifying a particular coded communication signal (301) from received coded communication signals (303, 305). The receiver (900) comprises a memory device (905) and a processor (907). The memory device (905) stores information contained in the received coded communication signals (303, 305) during multiple modulation symbol time intervals (210) to produce stored information. The processor (907) then searches the stored information to identify the particular coded communication signal (301).
