    Abstract: A system that enables participating users to discuss, debate, connect and compare media and information online. Preferably, the system operates as an on-demand hosted platform that provides a secure architecture on which users can interact with one another, e.g., to build consensus with respect to a given topic, a piece of content, or the like. Participating users interact with a conversation graph, which is preferably represented in a multi-column format. The graph comprises individual “stances” and “bridges” that connect the stances. End users interact with the graph by voting on a stance, entering new stances, and bridges. As users interact, a system-defined currency value unit (referred to as “kudos”) is associated with a vote, and these units accumulate across stances and bridges in the graph. A kudos propagation scheme is enforced to provide additional information to the users about which stances or bridges have particular information value in the conversation.

    Abstract: An engine (FIG. 1-1) comprising of multiple cylinders designated (2-5) combustion cylinders and (2-6) for heat recovery steam cylinders, each cylinder having a piston connected to a common crankshaft. The combustion cylinders operate on a four stroke cycle and the heat recovery steam cylinders operate on a two stroke cycle. The exhaust gas from the combustion cylinders is pressurized by a compressor, driven by a turbine, before entry into the heat recovery steam cylinders. This happens during the intake/power stroke of the heat recovery steam cylinders, as the intake valve closes, after top dead center, heated pressurized water is injected into the cylinder and spontaneously turns to steam driving the receding piston down. This heated exhaust gas and steam is expelled from the heat recovery steam cylinders to drive the turbine which in turn drives two compressors, one to compress the exhaust gas and one to compress the intake air.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for filtering oxidizable particles from hot synthesis gas or syngas uses a pair of candle filters each having an inlet side for receiving the hot unfiltered syngas to be filtered, and an outlet side for discharging hot filtered syngas. One housing contains both filters or a separate housing is provided for each filter. Each housing has an inlet for receiving hot unfiltered syngas and for supplying the hot unfiltered syngas to each of the filter inlet sides. Each housing also has an outlet for discharging hot filtered syngas from each of the filter outlet sides. Air is supplied to each housing for supplying combustion air alternately to each of the candle filters for burning oxidizable particles trapped on each respective filter to clean each filter while the other filter is filtering the hot unfiltered syngas. One or more switching valves are connected to the combustion air supplies for alternating the supply of combustion air between the candle filters.

    Abstract: A compact, mobile fuel converter for producing molecular hydrogen from hydrocarbon fuels, such as automotive gasoline, or other fuels such as methanol and ethanol has a steam reformer for producing molecular hydrogen from a pressurized and desulfurized fuel and water vapor preheated by flue gases from the fuel processor. The fuel processor is fed with the desulfurized fuel and water mix and a burner is provided to combust off-gas from the fuel processor reaction. Uncombusted off-gas is depressurized and mixed with auxiliary fuel used in the burner. Hydrogen produced in the fuel processor by the steam reforming process is separated from other reformate products using membrane filtration.

Sensible and latent heat from the flue gas is recovered and the condensate effluent from the condensing heat exchanger contains valuable chemicals that are returned to and used in the kraft process.

The gasifier reactor is heated to a predetermined temperature range with either an external heater or a second fluidized bed located at a position below the first fluidized bed. A heat exchanger may be positioned in the first fluidized bed and/or the second fluidized bed for indirectly heating the respective fluidized beds. Condensing heat exchanger means recovers heat from the product gas and condenses an acid gas therefrom for recycling the chemicals. A reagent is sprayed in the condensing heat exchanger means to clean the product gas. Pressurization allows the cleaned product gas to be directly fired in a turbine.

    Abstract: A new chemical recovery process and apparatus for a polysulfide pulping system is described wherein sulfur is recovered from the weak black liquor and is returned to the process, along with makeup sulfur, to reconstitute the polysulfide solution.After the polysulfide digestion, the spent liquor is contacted with ferric oxide Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 whereby ferrous sulfide, FeS, is formed. After separation of the ferrous sulfide from the remaining liquid, the ferrous sulfide is oxidized to form elemental sulfur, and ferric oxide. After the melting of the sulfur and the separating of the products, the sulfur can be returned to the Sulfur Dissolving Tank wherein, along with makeup sulfur as required, the white liquor from the causticizing plant can be treated to form the polysulfide liquor for digestion. The ferric oxide can be reused for contacting the black liquor to form ferrous sulfide. The resulting smelt of reduced sulfidity from the recovery furnace can be reprocessed to form the white liquor.
