  • Patent number: 9003402
Abstract: A method and apparatus for injecting function calls into a virtual machine whereby a Function Call Injection (FCI) process is employed, through which a Secure Virtual Machine (SVM) is used to trigger desired function call invocations inside a Guest Virtual Machine (GVM) by externally manipulating the GVMs memory and CPU register contents using a security API. Once the triggered function is executed, control is then returned at the originating SVM invocation point. Therefore, the GVM state is manipulated to externally inject function calls, making it possible to create control appliances which do not require an in-GVM agent.

  • Patent number: 8439937
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method for maximizing efficiency of tissue removal from body passageways is provided. The system comprises a device for opening an occluded lesion, e.g., a rotational atherectomy device or angioplasty device, and a guide wire having an introducer sheath. The guide wire introducer sheath may comprise a hypo tube having columnar strength greater than that of the guide wire alone to assist the guide wire in crossing occluded lesions, wherein the sheath and guide wire are axially moveable relative to each other. The guide wire sheath may further comprise increased flexibility at its distal end to increase flexibility and/or a soft distal tip to help with steerability through the vasculature. The sheath may allow for a smaller outer diameter guide wire which, in turn, may allow for a smaller outer diameter on the occlusion-opening device, e.g., atherectomy or angioplasty device, which is slid over the pre-positioned guide wire.

  • Patent number: 8290911
Abstract: A system and method for implementing data deduplication-aware copying of data are provided. In response to a request to copy a source file between a source filesystem and a destination filesystem, file mapping information corresponding to the source file is retrieved. The file mapping information is stored in a source filesystem map. The source filesystem accesses a source logical volume. The source logical volume maps to a deduplication storage area. The destination filesystem accesses a destination logical volume. The destination logical volume maps to the deduplication storage area. The source file comprises data stored in the deduplication storage area. A destination file is allocated, based on the file mapping information, in the destination filesystem. The destination file is mapped to the data stored in the data deduplication storage area.

  • Patent number: 8171063
Abstract: A system and method for efficiently locating and processing data on a deduplication storage system are provided. A logical volume is mapped to a deduplication storage area. The logical volume includes a collection of logical block locations and the deduplication storage area includes a collection of physical block locations. The collection of logical block locations is mapped to the collection of physical block locations. A filesystem organizes the logical volume by organizing the logical block locations into a collection of files. Reverse-mapping information is generated for a logical block location that associates the logical block location with at least one file. In response to receiving a logical block address of a logical block location, at least one file is returned.

  • Patent number: 7787142
Abstract: A method of designing the appearance of an article having steps of creating a digital file of a design configuration for an article, representing the design configuration on a computer screen, selecting or creating a color for a coating composition to be applied to the article, generating color data for the created color, merging the color data with the digital file of the design configuration, and displaying on the computer screen an image of the article coated with the colored coating composition. Accurate calibration of the color of the article on a computer screen allows for production of coated articles based on the generated color data. The color data is further transmitted to a formulation computer that determines the formulation for a coating composition exhibiting the color data. Output from the formulation computer may be directly transmitted to a production facility for coating articles with the coating composition.

  • Publication number: 20060156671
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method for joining and connecting two panels in substantially planar or substantially perpendicular arrangement when panels are in near-abutted proximity. The improved apparatus and method comprises a fitted recess positioned in the edge of a first panel and a corresponding fitted recess positioned in either the edge or face of a second panel such that both fitted recesses are in alignment when first and second panel are placed in aligned abutted position. The present invention further comprises a semicircular disc-shaped connector fully placed within one of the fitted recesses prior to first and second panels being placed in abutted alignment. A key provides a means for rotating said connector approximately 90 degrees after first and second panels are placed in abutted alignment causing said connector to be partially contained within each of the two aligned fitted recesses, thus providing a connection between the panels.
