  • Publication number: 20090066078
Abstract: The close-coupled fitting allows practical vessel/s to be connected in a manifold configuration with minimal space between them. As an example, a Tee-piece close-coupled fitting is in the shape of a “T” and comprises a fitting at an approximate 90° angle extending from the 180° plane. One end of the section on the 180° plane is a female socket that begins approximately flush with one side of the 90° fitting and has an internal limit that intrudes some-way into the opening of the 90° fitting. The male socket of the 180° plane extends outwards from the other side of the 90° fitting. Multiple Tee-piece close-coupled fittings connect along the 180° plane by inserting the male socket into the female socket. This invention allows an alternative manner of manufacture for storage units that affords flexibility and maximises the available space for such units.

  • Publication number: 20070297394
Abstract: A packetised data network includes IP telephones (ITs) and a network intelligence (NI). All of the keys of each IT are “soft” keys (i.e., they have no fixed function). The NI associates a configuration data structure with the IT which correlates the keys with functions, and, based on this, may control the display of the IT to indicate the current function of certain of the soft keys. Some of the functions are requests for data services at the telephone (e.g., video or programmed audio over the internet). When a user requests such a service with a key press, the NI sets up the service between the data source and the telephone. This may require associating a new configuration data structure with the keys of the IT. The IT user may activate multiple data services through the NI.

  • Publication number: 20050218229
Abstract: A system for verifying the authenticity of data contained in a magnetic medium using the remanent noise characteristics of the magnetic medium. In one embodiment, the invention includes a sensing unit configured to generate a signal indicative of the sensed magnetic field and an amplifier. The amplifier is in communication with the sensing unit, is configured to amplify signals having amplitudes less than a threshold by at least a first factor and configured to amplify signals having amplitudes greater than the threshold by at most a second factor. The first factor is greater than the second factor.

  • Publication number: 20050173530
Abstract: Magnetic stripe documents are identified and authenticated on the basis of repeatable magnetic characteristics of a stripe recorded with digital data and waveform characteristics of the sensed digital data. Stripes are sensed to provide an analog signal, only the portion storing leading zeros being used. Cyclically, the leading-zero portion is sampled and digitized to provide a target number of samples using a frequency locked loop. The target number of samples is then reduced by a selection process that attains a predetermined number of digital samples from central locations in magnetized portions of the record specifically, spaces between data transitions. Selected groups, each of a predetermined number of digital samples, are then combined to provide magnetic characteristic data. Such data is then combined with waveform data (range) to provide an identification word. Documents are verified by correlating reference and sensed identification words.

Abstract: A system for verifying the authenticity of data contained in a magnetic medium using the remanent noise characteristics of the magnetic medium. In one embodiment, the invention includes a sensing unit configured to generate a signal indicative of the magnetic field of the magnetic medium, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in communication with the sensing unit and configured to digitize the analog signal, a filter in communication with the ADC configured to enhance the component of the signal associated with the remanent noise characteristic, a data extraction unit, in communication with the ADC and the filter configured to measure at least bit duration and peak location and an authentication extraction unit, in communication with the filter and the data extraction unit configured to extract a set of scaled samples from the output of the filter representative of the remanent noise characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20050167496
Abstract: A system for verifying the authenticity of data contained in a magnetic medium using the remanent noise characteristics of the magnetic medium. One embodiment of the invention includes an over-sampled modulator and at least one channel in communication with an output of the over-sampled modulator. The at least one channel is configured to filter the output of the over-sampled modulator and the at least one channel is configured to vary the bandwidth of the filter applied to the output of the over-sampled modulator in response to variations in the bandwidth of the signal generated by the sensing unit.

  • Publication number: 20040065437
Abstract: A mandrel housing for permanently deploying a seismic sensor or sensor apparatus down a well is disclosed. The mandrel is formed integral with or attached to a pipe and is incorporatable into the production piping string. The outer diameter of the mandrel is designed to be slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the well casing which allows the mandrel to naturally come into contact with the well casing at points of deviation, non-linearity, or non-verticality in the casing. This mechanical coupling of the mandrel to the well casing, and hence the earth formation, improves the resolution and type of seismic signals to be detected by the sensor apparatus. The sensor apparatus fits into a groove on the mandrel and is preferably clamped or welded into place or placed within a tunnel formed in the mandrel. The mandrel further preferably contains channels on its side to allow materials within the annulus to flow around the mandrel even when the mandrel is in contact with the casing.

  • Patent number: 4680012
Abstract: Apparatus (FIG. 1), for training in the rapid and accurate reaction to a situation confronting one or more trainees 12, 12' in an enclosed room 11, has one wall thereof formed by a screen portion 14 onto which an optical image is back-projected by projector 16. Each trainee's weapon 22 has a light emitter 24 responsive to firing the gun (containing blanks) at the screen to simulate the projectile impact point by spot 26. A television camera adjacent the projector and viewing the rear of the screen receives the spot and relates the position of this within the camera field to datum points of the projected image, the datum points 36' being visible to the camera and not the trainee.
