  • Patent number: 7497979
Abstract: A melt-processable thermoplastic composition is described, which comprises a) 50-99.5 wt. % of a melt-processable thermoplastic polymer and b) 0.5-50 wt. % of a particulate polymer comprising the residues of a monomer mixture comprising 50-100 wt. % of MMA, at least 0-50% of an ethylenically unsaturated comonomer comprising at least one alkyl acrylate or methacrylate and 0-10 wt. % of a copolymerisable cross-linking monomer said particles having a maximum dimension of 5 mm. The compositions have reduced surface gloss and may be useful for forming building components or in any other application in which a low gloss surface is required. A method of making the composition and its uses, for example its use as a capstock material, are also described.

  • Patent number: 7481287
Abstract: A vehicle cooling package has a fan shroud mounted to a heat exchanger assembly. A diverter plate is mounted adjacent to the shroud and spaced therefrom with a fan interposed therebetween. A diverting surface of the shroud and the diverter plate are angled from the axis of the fan when the shroud and plate are assembled to the vehicle. A vehicle hood has upper and side surfaces each having air discharge apertures corresponding with the space between the diverting surface and the diverter plate when the hood is closed. The diverting surface and the diverter plate both extend fully to the hood assembly when the hood is closed. The angles of the diverting surface and the diverter plate closely match a natural discharge angle of the fan, so that air is discharged from the fan at a high velocity from under the hood through the air discharge apertures.

  • Patent number: 7249075
Abstract: A data processing system and method for implementing and control of a financial instrument having pre-set maturity that provides efficient exposure to common stock at a reduced risk. In a preferred embodiment, the financial instrument is divided into units, each one consisting of a long-dated Treasury STRIP and the common stock of one company. Over its life term, each unit generates income based on the total return of the underlying common stock and can be created or redeemed at any time. The data processing system receives input from the capital market and evaluates the financial instrument, reporting its price to customers. The system further arranges for periodic distributions according to pre-defined distribution schedule and for the creation and redemption of new units. Also disclosed is a data processing system and method for administering a group of such instruments designed to track the performance of specified equity securities.

  • Publication number: 20070133537
Abstract: A computer network firewall or network filter functions normally to pass data on open ports to a respective service or data source associated with an open port. In addition, traffic arriving on closed ports may be directed to a handler for analysis and response. The handler may analyze and catalog the source and type of traffic arriving on the closed ports. The handler may then send a response with either a fixed response or data tailored to the type and nature of the traffic. The handler may respond slowly to cause the source of the traffic to wait for the response, thereby slowing the speed at which a potential attacker can identify valid targets and proceed past non-valid targets.

  • Publication number: 20060026569
Abstract: Dynamic run-time verification of a module which is loaded in memory (in whole or in part) for execution is enabled by using pre-computed portion-level verification data for portions of the module smaller than the whole (e.g. at the page-level). A portion of the module as loaded into memory for execution can be verified. Pre-computed portion-level verification data is retrieved from storage and used to verify the loaded portions of the executable. Verification data may be, for example, a digitally signed hash of the portion. Where the operating system loader has modified the portion for execution, the modifications are reversed, removing any changes performed by the operating system. If the portion has not been tampered, this will return the portion to its original pre-loaded state. This version is then used to determine validity using the pre-computed portion-level verification.

  • Publication number: 20050198507
Abstract: The import address table of a software module is verified in order to prevent detouring attacks. A determination is made regarding which entries in the IAT must be verified; all of the entries may be verified or some subset of the entries that are critical may be verified. For each external function, the external module containing the external function is loaded, if it is not already loaded. The function address in the exported function table is found. That address is compared to the address for the function in the IAT. Additionally, the external module, in one embodiment, is verified to ensure that it has not been modified. For a delay load IAT, a similar procedure is followed; however the delay load IAT may be periodically checked to ensure that the delay load IAT entries are either valid (indicating that the external function has been bound) or in their initial state (indicating that no binding has yet occurred).

  • Patent number: 6819725
Abstract: A signal synchronization mapper for mapping an input data stream characterized by a first frequency (typically a SONET/SDH stream) into an output data stream characterized by a second frequency. A phase lock control loop containing a “delta-sigma” (&Dgr;-&Sgr;) modulator which functions as a voltage controller oscillator synchronizes the data rate of the output stream to that of the input stream in a manner which simplifies attenuation of jitter energy when the output data stream is desynchronized (demapped). The modulator generates an accurate pulse train by duty-cycle dithered modulation of the input stream, which the mapper interprets as stuff/nullide-stuff commands such that the mapping operation is lossless over time (i.e. the number of bits in equals the number of bits out over time) thus allowing utilization of a FIFO buffer without the need to monitor the buffer's depth or its pointers.
