    Abstract: The present invention describes a cement free refractory mixture. The mixture comprises a pH buffer and a component containing a metal or fumed silica. Water may impart good flow characteristics to the mixture and can produce an effective low temperature cure. At elevated temperatures, an article formed using this mixture has superior refractory and physical properties.
