Patent number: 9485603Abstract: Embodiments described herein use customized beacons embedded in Bluetooth low-energy advertisements to transmit information between a user device and a beacon module. In one embodiment, the beacon module transmits the advertisement to the user device. The user device then parses the data contained within the advertisement to identify a customized beacon. Based on the information contained in the beacon, the application may provide an audio and/or visual presentation to the user. For example, the beacon may inform the user device that it is within close proximity to a particular geographic location (e.g., a point of interest). In response, the beacon application may present a visual presentation about the geographic location using a display screen within the user device.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2014Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignee: Disney Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: John David Worrall, David Alexander Francus, Gregory Gerard Johnson, Peter Stepniewicz, Jeffrey Robert Schenck, Thomas Carey Arthur

Patent number: 7215252Abstract: A proximity sensor includes an antenna having a resonant frequency selected to correspond to a resonant frequency associated with a selected dimension of an item of interest. In one example, the antenna is selected to have a resonant frequency corresponding to a resonant frequency associated with the width of a turbine blade. The amount of electromagnetic coupling between the item of interest and the antenna provides an indication of the proximity or distance between them. Several embodiments for incorporating such a structure into a gas turbine air seal are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2004Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Hamilton Sundstrand CorporationInventor: Robert A. Publication number: 20050182430Abstract: An anastomosis ring for interconnecting ends of living vessels in apposition of the ring having a tubular body with an annular wall surrounding a hollow bore. A plurality of impaling projections are provided at one end of the tubular member and a plurality of impaling projections are provided at the other end of the tubular member to impale a vessel end. A coupler device with a detachable connection holds the anastomosis ring adjacent the severed vessel ends. A first vessel end is inserted through a hollow bore of the tubular member and everted and impaled on the impaling projections. The second vessel end is drawn over the everted first vessel end and the intimas of the respective vessel ends are being brought into apposition and the second vessel and is impaled on the impaling projections. The anastomosis ring is then disconnected from the coupler device.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2005Publication date: August 18, 2005Inventor: Robert Schenck

Publication number: 20040256329Abstract: A tube has a plurality of sections, several with a transparent wall and a static mixer in each section, which mixers may also be transparent. The initial section mixes a photo inactivation agent with a body fluid such as blood and so on. The static mixers each have adjacent static mixing elements including a pair of axially aligned static mixing sections each formed of a 180° helix, adjacent sections being relatively rotated 90°, all of the elements being aligned in a corresponding tube section and having the same orientation. The apparatus is disposable and includes fluid supply containers, tubing, valves, sensors, and mixing devices coupled to pumps, all under control of a CPU. A static mixer filter filters the processed fluid and may contain porous resin particles coated on the inner surfaces of or packed into a mixing device, and/or coated on a porous membrane in a mixing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2004Publication date: December 23, 2004Inventors: Peter Meserol, Jesse Acker, Rita Prodell, Lawrence Lenart, Robert Schenck, Shirley Meserol

Patent number: 5727952Abstract: A dry marker board including a sheet of material having a writing surface upon which felt tip, erasable ink markers may be used. Preferably, the writing sheet is a sheet of ceramic-on-steel material. A shelf support, preferably made of wood, is mounted on the bottom portion of the writing sheet by fasteners such as nails or screws. Polyurethane is injection molded around the peripheral edge of the writing sheet, encapsulating the peripheral edge and sides of the writing sheet and the shelf support to form a unitary frame with a shelf.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1996Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Assignee: Classic Modular Systems, Inc.Inventors: Robert Schenck, Jeff H. Hoffman, Michael N. Klein

Patent number: 5216782Abstract: A sash counterbalance device for a fume hood including a first cable having a first end and a second end, the first end being secured on the left side of a fume hood sash and wherein a first counterweight is secured on the second end of the first cable; a second cable having a first end and a second end, the first end of the second cable being secured on the right side of the sash, and wherein a second counterweight is secured on the second end of the second cable; and an axle which is mounted on the fume hood. The first and second cables are individually, separably, and concentrically wrapped about the axle such that movement of the sash causes a simultaneous movement of the axle by movement of the counterweights axle in a predetermined direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1992Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: Classic Modular Systems, Inc.Inventors: Robert Schenck, Jeffrey H. Hoffman, Joseph T. Scheurich

Patent number: 4462594Abstract: A video game including a player operated device for controlling the velocity and direction of movement of a game object. The game player may generate a pulse train having a pulse repetition rate proportional to the desired velocity of the game object. A numerical value of the pulse rate as a function of a clock signal is established, and the numerical value is utilized to change the address of the game object in a video memory so that in successive frames of a video display the game object moves across the display screen.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1982Date of Patent: July 31, 1984Assignee: Coleco, Industries, Inc.Inventors: Eric Bromley, Robert A. Patent number: 4337988Abstract: Mobile furniture modules can be releasably installed under a work surface structure, such as provided by a countertop or table top, with convenient rearrangement enabled by providing each module with roller structures, such as typical casters, which are releasably anchored in wheel mounts which receive the caster wheels in a depression seat at a level elevated from the floor in the installed position. In addition the work surface structure is provided with a retainer which prevents movement of installed modules from beneath the work surface structure, preferably by engaging the top of the module with adjustable elevation which levels the module following releasable anchoring of the wheels in the elevated depression seat. The modular furniture system can be employed with particular advantage for movable laboratory cabinets to provide continuous work surface between rearrangeably installed cabinets.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1980Date of Patent: July 6, 1982Assignee: Curtin Matheson Scientific, Inc.Inventor: Robert Schenck
