  • Patent number: 5775234
Abstract: A height adjustable bedside table having a gas spring with a gas cylinder and reciprocating shaft and a locking mechanism that locks the shaft against movement with respect to the cylinder while maintaining a common longitudinal axis of the cylinder and shaft. The locking mechanism is mounted to the gas cylinder and includes a locking plate having an aperture which receives the reciprocating shaft to selectively lock the shaft with respect to the cylinder. The locking plate is mounted for selective movement to lock the shaft in one position and to free the shaft for longitudinal movement with respect to the locking plate in another position. A locking plate spring is mounted to the one frame member for biasing the locking plate to the one position.

  • Patent number: 5599130
Abstract: A universal bed rail mount for securing bedside rail risers to a mattress supporting bed frame is disclosed. The mount comprises an L-shaped support for embracing the bed frame and is formed of two legs having an opening at an outer portion of each of the legs. The mount also includes at least one tension plate having a hole at a central portion thereof and having bearing surfaces at each of opposite ends of the plate. The bearing surfaces are adapted to be received in the openings in the outer portion of each of the legs. A bolt is received in the tension plate and is adapted to abut the bed frame embraced by the L-shaped support. An adjustable mechanical advantage element is on the bolt and on the tension plate to selectively adjust the position of the bolt in the hole in the tension plate and thereby adjust the tension between the L-shaped support and the tension plate with the bed frame therebetween. A riser guide support is affixed to an exterior surface of one of the legs.

  • Patent number: 5473997
Abstract: An overbed table having a supporting base, an adjustable vertical column on the base and a table top supported by a cantilever mourned support brace mounted between the vertical column and the end of the supported table top. The table top can have a slidable vanity drawer mounted on the bottom of the table top. A second table top can be pivotally mounted under the table top. The table can also have a double table top. The double table top has spaced frictional driving wheels which cooperate with configured edges on a pair of vertically stacked table tops. One table top is operatively positioned between the driving wheels, while the second table top is operatively coupled to the outside surface of the driving wheels. Motion by either table top in a first direction will cause the other table top to move in the opposite direction. A vanity drawer can be mounted under the lower table top.

  • Patent number: 5022327
Abstract: A bedside table having a safety top that is free to rise from any prior set level when upward pressure is applied. The table has a gear driven lead screw for setting the height of the table relative to a patient bed. If, for any reason, the patient bed should rise, the table top will safely rise with the bed regardless of the height to which it has previously been set.

  • Patent number: 4492170
Abstract: A vertically adjustable table includes a base having an upright rectangular tube, a square post slidably received within the tube, and a table top supported at the upper end of the post. The post slidably engages one of the narrow walls of the tube and a horizontal slot is provided near the top of the opposite narrow wall thereof. An integral locking member made from a bent metal plate is generally U-shaped, has a bight located near the upper end of the second wall of the tube and has two legs which diverge downwardly. One leg extends into a space between the tube and post, has a semicylindrical inward bend near the lower end thereof which is of a diameter slightly greater than the space between the post and tube, and has an elongate tab at the outer end thereof which is loosely received in the slot in the tube.
