Abstract: A reinforced material is described. The reinforced material includes a middle layer formed of a plurality of fibers comprising a first and second side, a top layer disposed on the first side comprising an elastomeric material, and a bottom layer disposed on the second side comprising an adhesive material, wherein the reinforced material is configured to have a maximum stretch of up to 10%. In some embodiments, the reinforced material may be formed into strips or tape. A method of manufacturing a reinforced material is also described.

Abstract: A protective headband includes at least one padding layer having at least one length of material and at least one elastic connector configured to hold the shape of the at least one padding layer in a loop. The protective headband may further include at least one reinforcement layer at least partially attached to at least one surface of the at least one padding layer. The protective headband may further include at least one patch comprising at least one layer of material positioned on the cover layer.

Abstract: A device for locking the brake or clutch of a vehicle and thereby preventing the theft of the vehicle. The device includes at least a base member having at least two feet for placement on the floorboard of a vehicle beneath a brake pedal; a U-shaped housing comprising a first arm attached to the base member and a second arm shorter in length than the first arm, thereby defining an opening configured to receive a brake pedal shaft through the opening and into the U-shape of the U-shaped housing; and a locking portion extendably associated with the first arm and configured to slidably extend a pin into the U-shape incrementally upwardly in correspondence with the extension of the locking portion, the pin having mounted thereto and axially parallel thereto an additional foot, to thereby lock an underside of the brake pedal shaft with the pin and a brake pedal associated with the shaft with the additional foot such that a brake pedal cannot be depressed.

Abstract: A helmet system having an outer helmet, an inner helmet, and one or more orbital connectors joining the outer helmet to the inner helmet. Each orbital connector may include: a slip disc housing, a slip disc, and a post. The slip disc housing is mounted on one of the outer helmet and the inner helmet and has a first face and an opening through the first face. The slip disc has a second face abutting the first face, and the second face is movable in sliding contact with the first face relative to a spherical center. The post extends through the opening and mounts the slip disc to the other of the outer helmet and the inner helmet. The post is dimensioned to move within the opening to allow the second face to move tangentially to the spherical center in sliding contact with the first face.

Abstract: Impact-resistant materials and pads are disclosed. An impact-resistant material includes a first elastomer layer having a first density, a second elastomer layer having a second density higher than the first density, a layer of high-tensile strength fibrous material, and a polymer layer. These layers are preferably be arranged in the order in which they are recited. These layers may also be included in an impact-resistant pad configured to be worn by a user. The first elastomer layer is positioned directly adjacent the user when the pad is worn by the user.

Abstract: A helmet system having: an outer helmet, an inner helmet, at least one connector resiliently joining the outer helmet to the inner helmet, the resilient connector being configured to allow the outer helmet to rotate about the inner helmet, and one or more straps configured to be connected to the inner helmet to secure the inner helmet to a wearer's head. The helmet system does not have any straps configured to secure the outer helmet directly to the wearer's head. A helmet visor and other helmet configurations are also provided.
